IDW Publishing has updated their website with a press release concerning their new ventures into the digital medium, including but not limited to new Transformers digital comics! Here is an excerpt.
San Diego, CA (July 22, 2009) - Expanding its strong lead in the digital publishing arena, at San Diego Comic Con today IDW Publishing announced several major expansions to its digital comic book initiative. The newly available digital comics include IDW's G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra movie prequel comics, plus TRANSFORMERS and CSI. In the coming weeks, IDW will continue to expand its electronic offerings with more G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS, as well as new titles available digitally for the first time, such as the classic J. Scott Campbell series Danger Girl, as well as Astro Boy, Groom Lake, John Sable Freelance, and GrimJack.

DETROIT - Fans of the new Camaro and the blockbuster TRANSFORMERS movies can now combine their love of the car and the films with the Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition announced today at Comic-Con in San Diego.
"When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the 'BUMBLEBEE' Camaro," said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. "Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time."
Features such as an EPA-rated 29 highway mpg on the V6-powered Camaro, Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar combined with TRANSFORMERS design cues add to the car’s status as a 21st century sports car.
“Hasbro is thrilled to team up with Chevrolet and excited to see the Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition come to market for our fans to enjoy,” said Samantha Lomow, Global Brand Leader for TRANSFORMERS at Hasbro. “The yellow Camaro with the black stripes has become so iconic and closely associated with the BUMBLEBEE character that this edition was a natural fit for both companies.”
While the aggressive styling of the Camaro is unmistakable, true TRANSFORMERS fans will notice some of the unique, but subtle features of the Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition.
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition includes the following:

Dealers are now taking orders for this car. Customers can order the TRANSFORMERS Special Edition as either a Rally Yellow LT or SS model. The optional RS appearance package can also be added.
The V6-powered Camaro uses a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. It is SAE-certified at 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3.6L engine; a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control, is available.
The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, SAE-certified at 426 horsepower (318 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (569 Nm). It is paired with a TR6060 six-speed transmission.
A new, L99 V-8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. It is based on the LS3, but also includes GM’s fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. It is SAE-certified at 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 Nm). It is matched with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission that helps delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg on the highway.

In these days of dire economic forecasts, it is always uplifting to hear some positive financial news. Today, it is our pleasure to bring you just that, and better yet, our beloved Transformers are part of the reason.
Hasbro today released their 2nd quarter earnings and they have exceeded insider projections.
Here is an excerpt of an article today from Toy News Online.
US and Canada sales were $490.9 million, compared to $467.7 million in 2008. The results reflect growth in Transformers, GI Joe, Littlest Pet Shop, Nerf, Play-Doh, Furreal Friends and Tonka. The segment reported an operating profit of $56.3 million, compared to $43.7 million in 2008.
International segment sales fell to $276.2 million, compared to $293.7 million in 2008. The revenues include a negative foreign exchange impact of approximately $42.8 million.
The results reflect growth in Transformers, G.I. Joe, Littlest Pet Shop, Nerf, Play-Doh and Star Wars. The International segment reported an operating profit of $16.5 million, up from $14 million in 2008.

HASBRO SHOWCASES TOP ENTERTAINMENT PROPERTIES AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON
PAWTUCKET, RI – July 16, 2009 - Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS) returns to San Diego Comic-Con in 2009 with its iconic properties that have entertained fans of all ages for decades. G.I. JOE
In 1964, the introduction of Hasbro’s G.I. JOE line created the “action figure” category. Since then, the G.I. JOE property has evolved, delivering a unique brand of action for each new generation. This summer, fans of all ages will see the G.I. JOE franchise taken to the next level with the major motion picture release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, on August 7, from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment, in association with Hasbro. The film focuses on an elite G.I. JOE team that uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer DESTRO and growing threat of the mysterious COBRA organization. Hasbro’s 2009 product line allows fans of all ages to capture the excitement of the movie and recreate it in their own homes. The line features dozens of action figures, vehicles and playsets that long time G.I. JOE fans and a new generation of kids will want to add to their collection. In addition to the exciting and expansive new toy line, Hasbro will have several props from G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA on display in its booth including the SNAKE EYES and STORM SHADOW movie costumes.
MARVEL
It’s been an exciting year in the Marvel Universe with Marvel and Fox’s blockbuster movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine as well as two new animated television series on Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons network – Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man: Armored Adventures. As the master toy licensee for Marvel’s incredible library of Super Hero properties, Hasbro is thrilled to display its highly anticipated toys and action figures for 2009 from its SPIDER-MAN, IRON MAN, WOLVERINE, MARVEL UNIVERSE and SUPER HERO SQUAD toy lines.
MY LITTLE PONY
Hasbro’s MY LITTLE PONY brand once again returns to Comic-Con. In 2009, the MY LITTLE PONY brand is bringing a whole new look to its core cast, and fans everywhere will be able to enjoy them through a variety of games, publishing and entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, look for the new MY LITTLE PONY DVD, Twinkle Wish Adventure, scheduled for release October 13, 2009. Pawtucket, R.I.- In a press release issued today by Hasbro, Inc. (HAS NYSE), the person who's been appointed lead in the HASBRO/ Discovery Communications Joint Venture Television Network has been announced.
Margaret Loesche, who has been working in children's entertainment for over 30 years, will be assuming the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the companies’ multi-platform, yet to be named, joint venture.
An excerpt from the official release:
The winner of multiple Emmy and other industry awards, Loesch has almost four decades of unparalleled success in children’s and family entertainment. Her extensive resume includes the development and production of some of the most iconic programs in children’s television, such as Smurfs, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies, Animaniacs, Transformers and the award-winning pre-school educational series Bear in the Big Blue House, among many others.
As a chief executive, Loesch’s experience includes the launch and international expansion of Fox Kids Network, the creation of the U.S. Hallmark Channel, leadership of Marvel Comics’ film production arm, Marvel Productions, and, most recently, the co-founding of family media company, The Hatchery. She also serves on the board of trustees of Sesame Workshop, producers of educational children’s programs, including Sesame Street, and is on the advisory board of the Coalition for Quality Children’s Media.
“Margaret is the perfect match for the network that Hasbro and Discovery are developing,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s President and CEO. “Her consistent track record of creating groundbreaking children’s programming and successfully launching new networks is a blueprint for what we want this joint venture to be. HASBRO is sponsoring a project to help raise money for ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease by selling a book of toy diorama photography by an artist who uses their toys in diorama's for advertising. The book is called
insight: Photography and Dioramas by Gianni Lopergol.
The toys listed as featured in the photographic compilation are said to be Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Marvel Super Heroes.
While technically not a Transformers item for sale, it does appeal to the crowd on this site because many of us collect other toys, or are fans of photography of them, or diorama creation. And of course, not only is it an interesting book, but it also serves to help a great cause.

insight: is a 128-page, full-color photography book from former Hasbro photographer, Gianni Lopergolo. A trailblazing artist, Gianni reinvented the way product photography was done at Hasbro, using unconventional lighting techniques and building scene-stealing dioramas from everyday objects. Now in the fight of his life, Gianni has been battling ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, for three years. No longer able to work, and with the help of his friends, Gianni recently realized his lifelong dream of publishing a book of his photography. Featuring the much-loved G.I. JOE, Marvel and Star Wars product lines, insight: displays over 90 of Gianni’s favorite images and even includes some previously unreleased photos. Hasbro is proud to present this book in support of the National ALS Association and a private fund to be established for Gianni’s three young sons.

An update from Simon Plumbe, Auto Assembly Organizer---
If you're planning on pre-booking for Auto Assembly 2009, you now have the chance to win a FREE pass to Auto Assembly 2010 with our great "Milestones" competition...
The first of these is what I am calling our “Milestone Draw”. Over the last few years, we have set various attendance records for Auto Assembly. As this is the 20th Anniversary of Infinite Frontiers, the organisation behind Auto Assembly, we wanted to look at some of the really big milestones for the convention and celebrate what we have achieved over the years and we want to acknowledge these "milestones" by rewarding those attendees who help us reach those figures again. Quite simply, when a person registers and their ticket number matches each of these key numbers then they will receive a FREE ticket to Auto Assembly 2010!!
We have decided to set these target figures at 320 (Auto Assembly 2004's attendance figure which was our first weekend convention), 400 (Auto Assembly 2006), 409 (when we first broke the European record in 2005), 423 (which is the current European record that we set last year), and 500 which is the “glass ceiling” that every UK convention has been aiming for for years!! The 320 figure was reached a short while ago and the winner is Paul Jones who will receive a free ticket for Auto Assembly 2010 and we are VERY close to reaching the next milestone so anyone who books within the next few days could be ticket number 400 or 409!
Don't worry if you have already pre-registered though as there is still a chance for you to get a ticket for Auto Assembly 2010 as we will once again be running our Pre-Registrant Prize Draw. Every pre-registrant will be entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket to Auto Assembly 2010 and possibly some other prizes as well!
The final one is another biggie and is where we are literally going to be giving away FREE tickets to the convention this year!! This is something brand new we are doing for Auto Assembly 2009 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Transformers and to thank everyone for their support over the years. This is something that we secretly started back in June where we did a random draw each time someone registered for the convention. As we receive each booking, we are doing a random draw with a 100-sided die and if we roll a 100 then that person gets the price of their ticket refunded in FULL! This will only apply to pre-registrants who have booked from 1st June 2009 onwards and this is running in parallel with the other competitions so it’s possible that someone could get their ticket for this year free AND a ticket for Auto Assembly 2010!

With the San Diego Comic Convention event dates closing in on us fast, the official homepage for the event has announced its schedule of events for Friday, July 24th 2009.
Officially deemed "Star Wars Day", there will be alot more going on then just a catering to fans of Darth Vadar and Boba Fett. HASBRO will have alot of presence along with IDW Publishing during the "The Great Transformers/ G.I. Joe Crossover" Panel.
