Don't have one. I'm just going to put it out.

So you have no real plans on distribution, nor do you have any reason for anyone to read your story? And everyone who has ever met you would gladly punch you in the neck?

It'd be incredibly naive of you to think you're going to get anywhere like this.

Okay, I'm just going to sober up a second and ask you a serious question. Are you looking to make money out of this, or is this for personal pleasure?

Because the way you're behaving, you're really not going to get any customers this way.

Why are you being so hush-hush about this? You could have posted an excerpt here and politely asked if anyone is interested in reading further. You know, like normal people. Instead, you attempted to use reverse psychology, started with your Dalai Lama schtick, and for what? You got some attention, but it's the kind that works against you.

Hell, if you acted like a well-adjusted individual (or at least a properly medicated one), any one of us might be a potential reader who'd pay to read your work IF it's good. This whole "take me as I am or leave it" thing isn't doing you any favors. Because no matter how good your writing is, you're just going to turn people away.

You might not like what Shadow has to say, but he makes a good point.

C'mon guys, he didn't write anything. Its a ploy to real out criticism he can respond to, for entertainment. Think like he does. He has a God Complex, and in his mind, he's controlling you all like little puppets.
I could be totally wrong, but no links, no excerpts... I'll believe it when I see it.
Until then, this is just a bait topic in my book.

Tell that to the people who've actually read it and given me their feedback. Nice try, but Illuminati confirmed. You can't take my planet from me, no matter how hard you try.

I mean the excerpt thing. It's a short story, I'm not trying to reveal too much about it, else there'd be no reason to read it. I'm not trying to get everyone to read it just yet, only those who's attention my original post got. If that turned you off, maybe you're not who I'm looking for at the moment. I got about 5 people who actually wanted to read it, that's all I need, money.

Nah, his short story's real enough. It's his claim to be a god and his Dalai Lama jargons that are fake.

This has got to be the most hilarious thread I've ever seen. Sly doesn't need criticism for his perfect work, while asking for criticism, all the while people are trying to drag information out of him which he clearly doesn't possess.

I have always loved you, Seibertron.com. You provide me with such entertainment on a daily basis. I hope this thread lives forever.

Oh yeah, tons of writers do that. Like a demo for a video game or a "sneak peek" clip for a movie.

Though at least you're willing to admit that anyone who reads a little bit of your story wouldn't want to read the whole thing.

Says the person trying to convince everyone that he's God and/or a higher being. >:oP

You know that thing about a lie told 100 times? Well it's a myth. You can keep trying to convince us that you're God, or a reincarnated Dalai Lama or L. Ron Hubbard reborn until you're in your deathbed, but we'll still all pronounce you, "smug, narcissistic kid."

The only one crazy enough to believe you're God has sadly been banned for trying to convince Burn he's the Hulk. And he's been trying a lot harder than you have.

Case in point: here's a good example of excerpts from an independent writer. http://www.markwbonnett.co.uk/

And the beauty of it is that instead of telling everyone to bow before him in reverence, he has a likeable, humorous personality.

Exactly. If people think you're a shitbag, they won't want to buy your work. For instance, I was a lot less inclined to read Ender's Game when I found out Orson Scott Card is a massive homophobe. The same with L Ron Hubbard when I found out he was a racist, misogynistic homophobe who started a fake religion as an admitted cash grab.

But whether a person believes you or not isn't really the point.

Like Shadowman, I won't touch any of Hubbard or Scotts stuff because of THEIR beliefs. Even if they didn't put their personal beliefs into their work, I'm still not going to touch it because of who they are as people.

And given your attitude JUST IN THIS THREAD, there is no way in hell I will touch any of your stuff.

I know what you're going to say, you don't care. That's fine. But pull your head out of your ass long enough for this to sink in.

If you want to be an author, if you want to make a living from writing, you're going to have to interact with other human beings. If you continue to act towards other human beings as you do to us you will fail.

You may say you don't care what people think of you, but if you TRULY want to make something from your writings, you're going to have to change your attitude.

Or alternatively you can stay cooped up in your home hating on humanity with this **** up misguided belief you're above the rest of humanity, and then proceed to die alone, lonely, and never remembered.

Same here. Fact of the matter is, nobody buys from a seller they don't like, no matter how good the product is. That's why companies have PR departments, and public personalities have managers who do damage control.

Strangely, that's exactly what a girl at a bar said to me when I rejected her advances. She got up in a huff and stormed straight toward the gents'. Ba'Dum, tsssshhhh!

If I didn't touch the stuff (he he, that sounds dirty) of people who I didn't like and/or disagreed with, I'd never read or watch anything.

This thread has me thinking though, how many of us act the same online, as we do in real life. Can Sly really be that much of an asshole in person? Can shadowman? Does the late Duragrip really think he can be Batman? Is Madeous really still in high school? Think about it.

For me, I'm much more likely to state how I really feel online. In real life, in person if you will, I'm much kinder. I generally believe humans are worth the benefit of the doubt. Online, I'm much quicker to dismiss somebody as a joke or piece of trash, and it m not sure that's the right thing to do.

Maybe Sly is making one big cry for help?

Like Shadowman, I won't touch any of Hubbard or Scotts stuff because of THEIR beliefs. Even if they didn't put their personal beliefs into their work, I'm still not going to touch it because of who they are as people.

I don't understand how people can be against someone's work because they don't like the individual. There are plenty of people I don't like, yet I enjoy their works. Because you disagree with them, they deserve to be boycotted?

And I wouldn't expect to die any other way.

Agreed about the first part.

And this, more or less, is how I am in real life. The only difference being, is that people in real life actually like me, because I'm an "*******."

So, heres a question Im not sure if answered, whats the story about?
As for the whole online vs Irl thing, I act pretty much the same Irl, but I have the opposite problem.
It takes alot for me to dislike a person I just meet, wether online or otherwise. Disliking them is different then being uncomfortable with their views or beliefs however.
I have friends who'd be openly shunned by most people because of weird stuff they like, and believe me, i'm no stranger to that myself.
I even like Sly through all his schtick. But I'll call BS when I see it, just don't mistake that to mean I dislike you.
Oh, and Madeus IS in high school. Be kinda hard to keep up that charade as well as he does :p

Yes. It's because it seeps into their works. It's usually subtle, depending on the writer, but then you get people like Ayn Rand and L Ron Hubbard who wrote stories just as a vehicle for their personal philosophies.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't that Hubbard guy write a story about raping aliens or some such ****?

Why would I lie about that last part?
