Well the votes are in, turns out the real savior of the Autobots is actually a goddamn hippy kid.

So no more of that silly debate between Alldarker and Absolute Zero!

Let's see if we can beat last weeks 52 votes. And if you don't think this weeks poll is any good, then bloody submit one yourself by pming me! Except N_V, he did, but I didn't like it. :P

VOTE!

I put Strafe Ram. But there's two points I'd like to make about it. First. No one has the xp to really get dividends from it yet. Secondly, by the time they do, Repair Ram is better.

really it depends on level/xp.

Repair is actually ok for lower levels, while ram owns at higher level. avoid is great at low level, and it takes strafe a long time to be good.

Ram/avoid FTW

Strafe is fine at any level.

The thing with strafe is it's the outside factors (number of targets) that really affect it.

thats not my experience. even with a 10 strafe and a 8 fpr, strafe loves to fire off 1-2 hits a lot more than 6+ hits. whether it against 1 target or 10. But maybe i'm just jinxed

Don't think i'm taking it out on you but this is my point repair should have been based off of strafe multi repair and a simpler mechanic.
Disagree, ok well lets look at it ram and strafe rely on two primary stats str/ram or frp/strf. repair wants int and end puls repair plus targets end. Before I go ant further I'll leave it at that and go cast my vote as a con at the levels I'm at for ram/strafe. 8)

I think strafe/repair is the best combo, you just need a lot of xp to support it... and more high level people to use it on.

Um... Courage doesnt trigger Avoid, its reactive. It only has a chance to activate if you are hit by a melee strike, which is nothing to do with courage. Still sucks at higher levels though because most of the strikes against you are tactic based and Avoid doesnt work on them.
All hail the wisdom of Tammuz!

And Ram/Repair FTW!

I put Avoid/Strafe. I blame Burn and his over-amped strafers way back in the day. (At least I think it was Burn that had 'em.)

-Memory Lane-

When I first joined up and was blundering around like all Noobs do; I put one of my level 0s in the Heavy Metal War mission which at the time was a 0-11 mission. After the high of getting a lucky shot in got over I noticed a good 90% of the damage done was by one of those said over-amped strafers.

-End Memory Lane-

I've been trying to replicate em ever since.

2 things

1 - They were never over-amped. I kept my builds within respectable boundaries.
2 - Rarely used Avoid/Strafe. I've always been a big fan of single tactic, plus single tactic strafes are FAR more devestating.

I'd say that every level has it's own perfect combination of tactics. At low levels, the Avoid tactic is good, because the 50 xp Avoid bonus is a relatively good supplement of XP next to the regular XP gained by hitting an opponent. Also, Avoid is influenced by just one main stat: Speed, which makes it relatively cheap to set up.
At higher levels (level 3 to level 6) Avoid becomes less important, and a more offensive tactic like Ram becomes more important. Of course, this has to be matched with both Strength AND Courage main stats to be successful.

The multiple hitting tactics like Repair and Strafe become most useful when you are in missions with plenty of high level teammates and/or opponents. At lower levels, these tactics are hardly worth the XP, as they also require the backing of at least three main stats: Speed, Courage, Intelligence/Firepower. This means you need to have a good amount of XP to make these effective investments.
I've never really experimented with Repair anyhow: I'd imagine that the most lucrative use for Repair is when you are supporting higher level teammates, so that would make their levels another factor in the success of Repair as a tactic.

I've voted for Strafe/Ram because the combination of two offensive Tactics most supports the level of my team as they are right now. Still, having written that, most of my team are in fact tough air animals, which have Avoid and Ram as tactics, including Alldarker, my most succesful 'Bot. Back in the days before the big crash, I built all my 'bots around the strafe tactic, combined with high speed and high courage. It was the best way to (now and again) get BIG points by being able to strafe the level 10 'Cons that I'd never be able to hit by other means. Only in the current HMW have I really reaped the benefits of high Ram combined with high Strength.

What I'm also trying to say is that there is no definite 'best tactic combination': it just depends on the level of the 'bot: not just your own but also of others in the game.
I'm so meta, even this acronym...
