Ok so I got some good stuff today as you probably saw from the toy haul thread.

Image

But I will take the time here to put a bit more stuff. Firstly, while the Jungle does **** up orders (and they still owe me some missiles) I do give them credit for labelling my packages as used toys and writing a low amount. It really helps with customs:

Also, since this is a new box, my little baby couldnt stay away:

I was looking at my new toys and others I had close by and realized that the idea that deluxes have gotten smaller is bogus since the sizes were never standard. My Beast Wars deluxe is the smallest of the three with the Beast Hunters being a bit bigger than the rest. Thunderhoof is in the middle in terms of size.

Tell that to the Animated Deluxes ;) I was going mention classics/generations, but you're correct, sizes were all over the place.

Gen Kup and Drift are huge, but Classics Mirage and Hound are tiny (but bad ass). I don't mind size differences, but I hope they start to get a little more complex after TR or at least some wrist swivels... |:|

I dont think they will be that complex, we already know how most are transforming, they are just using the G1 transformation. Look at Wolfwire, just flip the beast head back and flip out hiw robot wrists and make him stand up, done. Skullcruncher is the same transformation as CW Dead End and Blurr partforms. I doubt we will be seeing anything too intricate and RID may still be our best bet for new and exciting designs and transformations.

I meant what ever "generations" line follows TR.

If simple gets the job done to transform I'm down. I don't mind the hollow parts like most (of course I'd like less), but I just want a little bit more posability.

Maybe this is part of the reason some of those platty sets made up of older molds are looking so attractive, well that and I don't own the molds.

Don't get me wrong,i do have much excitement for the TR line and there is some must haves in the line.

I feel the same way 100% And I did miss that bit about what you hope for molds after TR. I am more excited for whatever new Decepticon mold will be released next in the RID line because those are transformations I simply cant predict, and thats awesome!

I enjoy them beastie Decepticons and really the rest of the RID line. I need to re watch season one then catch 2 somewhere.

I enjoyed CW, but then I hit a wall. Groove was cool, but more of a Pokémon deal. I'm pretty sure I want the CW Computron, which is just crazy to me. There is something about the set that just does it for me. If the UW had them snazzy feet I'd probably go that route.

I am super excited/hopeful for the TR line. The deal with those guys is that they look so much better in person and the sculpting is tops. I will be trying to do only one deco per mold this time around.

It'd just be nice if they kinda just go rando after TR and release some nice stuff for a while, but then again its probably just going be movie figs. Well maybe we'll see some nice stuff from that. Expand on the Knight theme, I did enjoy the few figs I got from the last flick.

I did too. That EMOP was very impressive and I always love getting more dinos. I was very impressed at their take on the raptor design, too bad the robot mode wasnt great. And it was cool to finally have a Sauropod again after 30 years.

And just so you know, it is the US version of Computron that has the snazzy new feet.

Interesting, I myself am 100% compeltely sold on UW. I like to pose all my Combienrs together and its the torso and head that sets them apart the most from oneanother so to me it was no question that the UW would be the one I am getting. It has the most personality between the two. It actually looks like its own individual combiner. And it lets me experience the Blastoff mold in a better looking bot and I also get the nice big drill I have been asking for since last year. As for the feet, I dont mind. At least it gives a uniformity to the line.

I do not like the HFGs - jack of all trades, master of none. The dedicated hands and feet are a major selling point, especially after seeing Vicky.

Scattershot: I think the figure and torso looks better on CW - UW Combiner head is better - CW wins

Nosecone: CW overall I like their colors better - UW drill is better, the mold choice is a toss up because all the stuff on UW seems awkward - CW wins

Lightspeed: UW wins pure and simple and I don't even like the Breakdown mold very much

Strafe: CW bot and alt mode colors looks better and I like the bot mode better, but I'd like a new mold - the alt modes are a toss up - 50/50

Afterburner: I just like the CW colors better - UW has painted rims and new gun molds with paint - CW wins but just barely because they will always be Computron if I get the set

Bonuses: CW comes with snazzy hands, feet and scourge - CW will also be possibly easier and cheaper for me to get. For me CW is just the better match, but man would I love to steal a few bits and pieces from the UW set.

Like the guys on the podcast said "the correct answer is to get both" then I could make a Compustien monster ;)^

Haha, I actually disagee with them. UW wins for each component and as far as extras, it does have new guns for Scattershot too which become boosters in alt mode and make it even more distinctive.

Yup, here are some pics with the new guns:

They attach at the bottom of the ship at the sides to make exhaust pipe turbo booster things:

And all the guns connect to make a big gun for Computron:

Takara has been one upping Hasbro consistently since the Beast Hunters line.

If this headsculpt isnt one upping then I dont know what is:

Image

;)

They also one upped Hasbro hard in the G1 era, this is what Soundwave came with in japan:

Look at all that sweet Styrofoam, man that is premium ;-)

You know at I mean, it just seems a little bit more extreme with the CW figures. You know since I've been a kid and probably more so a teen there has always been an allure to the Japanese figures/toys and probably more relevant to me, games. They just seem a little bit shinier, nicer, more care put into them.

That's probably a whole. Can a worms right there.

Being you brought it up, I dig them Oni figures. Bakudora will be mine someday!

Hahaha, yeah. But there were ups and downs. I dont think they outright beat Hasbro in a few lines, like United and Arms Micron. And many are not that different, like the Energon line. For Galaxy Force and Animated the big deal was that they had figures Hasbro didnt get, but of the figures they shared in common there wasn't that big a difference everywhere and the colour choice for some Animated Takara figures was just really odd. Also, Hasbro;s Platinum Predaking beats Takara;s own reissue, so take that!

carytheone wrote: You know since I've been a kid and probably more so a teen there has always been an allure to the Japanese figures/toys and probably more relevant to me, games. They just seem a little bit shinier, nicer, more care put into them.

But we are in the right place for it. While some of my favourite games are not Japanese (Arkham, Dead Space and Bioshock series along with Dishonoured), I have no hesitation in saying that Nintendo provides the highest quality games out there. All of their internally made games work out of the box and have this perfect triple A quality. You feel you arent wasting your time playing the game (while technically thats all your doing with any game haha), its like eating a good steak. Should you be eating red meat? Dont know, but when it tastes this good why should I be eating anything else  . And in terms of that extra shine, I always felt that's what the Japanese game company Platinum was all about. And any Suda game too. Those guys get it.

Oh and I was having some fun realizing I own a bunch of Rumbles from different lines.

Image

Image

I know there;s the G1 I dont have, along with the Alternators (dont need him) and there is the TR one coming soon. But are there any others I havent thought of. I am thinking of doing a top 5 list and for some reason, I dont think the MP is so much better than the rest of them. The United one has the best headsculpt, I can tell you that.

Interesting little haul today:

Image

Image

Image

I already had Scattershot and Ratchet but my SAcattershot was also found at a thrift store and had some glitter on him, so this will be a fine replacement. And as for ratchet, I didnt own the hasbro version and while I would never go out of my way to own the 2 versions of any toy, when it falls in your lap its hard to say no. It now gives me a fun comparison piece. Turns out the Habro version wasnt lacking paint apps one bit. Its beautifully painted. The only difference is the type of paint (which is really hard to photograph, since its extra glossy).
