Neat! Despite not being in the show, the Bat Primal and Megacroc two-pack were my first Beast Wars toys, so I have a lot of nostalgia for them.

I'm more excited for Croc Megs than anything in Legacy.

Sounds like the Prime toys in Legacy.

But to be fair, this inconsistency in the character design won't matter. This is not like messing up the faction symbols on G2 Bruticus. This is just another product for the toddler aisle.

Though I do agree that it's odd they havent reused that T-Rex design for BW Megatron, it's the perfect transformation.

So, trying to please everyone by pleasing no one? They didn't do that with the Optimus Primal toy. No G1 Optimus Prime noggin or Autobot symbol on him. They just straight up made him faithful-looking.

It got a smile on my face, and I don't collect these. I think it's a great homage for something that is in a kiddie line. You looked at it, you immediately recognized what it was trying to be. Ergo the Homage did the first half of its job. (The second half being to get purchased).

But to your point, they also didn't do the Primal this would have paired with. The Optimus Primal they did fronted 2 series: the OG Beast Wars the parents would recognize, and the Netflix series that an older sibling probably would have watched (according to Hasbro's targeting data). And it SHOULD have gone well with another Ape Optimus Primal in a movie that would have been out right now.

Had they done a Bat for Primal, I suspect they probably would have gone with a more iconic head sculpt as well as opposed to the original or something along the lines of Takara s Convobat.

I agree with the Trex Optimus needs to he redone for Beast Megs though. Maybe they are hesitant to use a Show model Autobot for a "bad guy" in the youngster toy line because of recognizability?

*shrug* They used the race car tooling of Blurr and several other onscreen RB/RBA characters (who didn't have the race car body in the shows) to make the MorBot toy.

I wondered if the Morbot toys would be an exception, or something out of Academy. But did Blurr use the racecar body on the show? I could see some Hasbro exec being

"Well we don't want to confuse the young kids by giving them bad guy toys that looked like the good guys on the show but the other toys are fair game because they can use their imagination."
I'm not saying it's GOOD logic, but I can see them doing something like that.

Blurr's whole thing in the show was his being a race car.

And the MorBot race car was the final villain of the Rescue Bots series finale. Kind of a big deal.

Honestly, I think you're giving this more thought then Hasbro did.

I never really cared for rescue bots, but what I would care for is if we got updated, fully functional transformers of them. Like RID Blurr, that was a cool idea. Maybe in Legacy?

No, not at all.
Also, make it a 1-step changer with an optional "base mode" where small bots could crawl inside like carrion. :michaelbay:

First Look at Rescue Bots Academy Radio Control Optimus Prime and Bumblebee

PostPosted: Sat Sep 10, 2022 6:55 pm

Thanks to some e-bay listings, we have a look at some Rescue Bots Academy products that were ever released. They are:

Hasbro Transformers Rescue Bots Academy Optimus Prime 2.4 GHz Radio Control https://www.ebay.com/itm/204088888788?m ... 5335815852

Hasbro Transformers Rescue Bots Academy Bumblebee 2.4 GHz Radio Control https://www.ebay.com/itm/204088868209?m ... 5335815852

Now it is unknown if these will ever be sold in stores since the Rescue Bots Academy line has been retired and replaced by the Classic Heroes lie. They do look like fun toys for kids though. You'll let us know what you think.

Was this version of Flip Racer Bumblebee ever released. Found this today at a thrift shop and after searching everywhere and reading through this whole thread, I only saw it once in the SDCC 2018 booth pictures.

Intersting, it's not a toy I ever found in stores, but it surely was released if it ended up in a thrift store. This line was never a big priority for coverage from any media site since there was very little interest from fans.

Transformers Mini Racers with G1 Characters Found at Kroger

PostPosted: Sun Feb 19, 2023 9:59 pm

We have news that the Transformers Mini Racers first shown over a year ago have been found in the US. While these are very similar to the Rescue Bots Mini Racers we previously had, these are all G1 characters. It's a trend we've seen a lot now where the Rescue Bot products are being revamped within a more G1 themed line. These particular products are one of the lowest priced Transformers items that transform in the Fisher Price aisle of retail stores. These ones have 2 robot heads, one that peeks out in alt mode, like the bot is driving itself and another for the robot mode. This series has Trailbreaker, Arcee, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Hoist. These were found at a Kroger in Indianapolis, IN.

If you have found them, share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.

I actually made that post back in early November, but oddly it was just approved and posted yesterday.

Since then through some discussion on other forums and my own research, it's been determined that this was an unreleased Bumblebee from the “Griffin Rock Off-Road Rescue Team." The lack of copyright and the stamped numbers shows that it was probably a preproduction sample.

While it might weird or unbelievable to find this in a random bag at the thrift store, it was in the same town as Hasbro HQ, so it was most likely a former employee downsizing.
