Stole this idea from TFW2005. Post your favorite Transformer of the day.

My favorite today is War for Cybertron: Kingdom Rodimus Prime.

Mine today is SIEGE Astrotrain. I enjoy him even with the compromises made to have full-length real feet (because A. that's a functional purpose and B. I'm really happy to not only have the steam engine mode back finally but also to have it completed with a tender).

Maybe over spring break I'll finally get a start on the train cars I keep meaning to make for him.

Might be a bit on the nose, but today's Favorite Transformer of the day is Dragstrip!
IMG_8526.jpg

I went with his box art pose.

I know some are nonplussed about a redo of the Stunticons, but I for one am not. Because I'm saving a lot of money on Transformers this year (relative the WFC years at least), I plan to get two sets of Stunticons to display separately and as Menasor. Dragstrip certainly looks the part, which is always my top concern.

I'm only nonplussed because of the execution of Menasor, especially with what I fear it's gonna be...

Today's favorite: Apex Optimus Prime/God Ginrai. Definitely has issues, but he's still cool and fun to play with.

Today's figure is Legacy Skids -

IMG_8532.jpg

Because of the multiversal nature of Legacy, I've decided that Skids was lost for 20-some years in a ground bridge accident, stuck between worlds. His natural curiousity and appetite for learning kept him (mostly) sane as he explored the world between worlds. He is finally released in 2022 by Wheeljack to find the world much different than he the one he left, with the war mostly over and Optimus Prime one with the Matrix.

My Skids just stayed with Charlene in Wyoming until she kicked the bucket.

That works too, but the multiversal background and everything g for this line kind of inspired me. Plus, that makes your version kind a delinquent. LOL

Yeah I guess but I'm a G1 comic fan forever :-D

But a multiversal background is good too it makes for imaginative options. ;)^

Scorponok is a great figure. I'm glad I caught him on the restock. For today, though I'm going with Spinister. This Siege guy got some heat when he came out at the end of Siege but Earthrise came and he kind of dropped off the radar. I like the fact both his Targetmaster partners got made and that's how I display him.

Spinister is my favorite deluxe from Siege. He's almost Voyager sized, great head sculpt, great colors, cool transformation with the double cockpits. His helicopter mode is just the right size to fit on Trypticon's helo pads too.

Commander Class Rodimus Prime

Today I'm parroting one of yours from earlier, but we come to it when we come to it -

IMG_8538.jpg

Just can't get enough of finger pointing. Honestly, can't get enough of everything about him. I find myself picking him up often. It's going to be tough to top this iteration of this character. His appearance, poseability - just everything about him justifies everything I anticipated. It's so rare that expectation meets reality, and I know he's won over MANY who said "nah, I ain't getting him."

I got him twice.

IMG_8539.jpg

While I love that he comes with the "Sword of Primus" and I know what it is in the context of the Regeneration One series, I've yet to satisfactorily establish it in my head canon. Any ideas?

This ain't my thread, but I like doing this kind of stuff, so I hope I'm not hijacking.

Studio Series 86 Perceptor

Very happy with this guy. I still like my Legends and Titans Return versions, but this one is much more reminiscent of the movie/show as he is supposed to. He has the slight flaw of the open back, but there's an upgrade kit for that.

A sacred weapon from Cybertronian antiquity, lost in the depths of space during one of the Great War diasporas or a previous diaspora? And finding it is what causes Hot Rod's re-ascension, or else necessitates him being rebuilt into a permanent version of his Prime body in order to wield it.

I like it. Or more specifically, I like that it re-ascends him into Rodimus as in my head canon he IS the chosen one, but if he has the Matrix, he doesn't need a sword. If Optimus is still around he can still be Rodimus. Oddly enough, my first Rodimus Prime (the one in the picture) was missing his Matrix. Didn't come with it. Interesting, no? I was tempted to make Hasbro send me another Commander Class figure but I didn't go through with it. Of course Hot Rod had one he can't store so it all worked out.

I don't necessarily believe in "going back" to Hot Rod, but that's what we have toys for. Still I do like the idea you present. I'll give it some thought with that in mind.
