I forgot to also mention that Nezha, Shi Ji Niangniang, Lei Zhenzi, and Tu Xingsun are all figures in the 16th-Century Chinese novel The Investiture of the Gods.

I have to be honest, Nezha looks rather a lot like a Chinese Sari Sumdac, which would be less of an issue if he weren't...well, a he.

It's an interesting idea, combining Transformers and classic Chinese characters, though my complete lack of knowledge of these particular individuals means I can't really comment on how well it's pulled off. Myself I'd rather have Chinese mythological characters rather than these somewhat more contemporary ones, just because mythology and Transformers mix well, Chinese mythology is rather cool, and the idea of a Chinese flavoured Go! would be neat.

With the exception of totally-not-Lego Megatron (Legotron?) and Nezha himself, the designs are kinda "eh" though. Which is a shame, because traditionally Chinese aesthetics IMO lend themselves rather well to mecha in general, especially when they draw influence from ancient armour and the geometric patterns of traditional art. I dunno, seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.

It’s like a call back to Brainmasters. I’m not big on Cyberverse designs but I could see that feature adapted to the WFC in a fun way. Like Micromasters could hop in a larger Transtector or something.

I think this looks fantastic. I love the mixing of culture and folklore into the Transformers for a fresh take on things... not to mention some views of another beautiful part of the world. (That was another reason I loved G1. That show was always popping around to new, exotic locations.)

I hope we can get access to this cartoon somehow... and the toys.

Can anyone repost the photos here in the thread? I missed the green one being revealed.

Wonder if this is actually part of the Cyberverse continuity. If it is, it looks like it takes place in between Cyberverse Season 1 and 2. Hopefully this won't be as trippy as that Chinese Gods cartoon.

The Nezha animated film made 700M in China alone, and will only be knocked off the top 10 world wide box office films list in the last few days of 2019 (likely due to Frozen II and Rise of Skywalker)

With that said, I'm amazed how a Chinese animation studio company can so closely mimic Boulder Media's animation style for Cyberverse (it actually looks a tad better if I'm being honest). While I cant speak to the plot, it will prove interesting to see if this will boost the popularity of Transformers in China, which could potentially mean big things for Hasbro Asia.

Does Cyberverse air in China because I'm getting some serious Transformers Go! vibes from this.

Well, it is a direct imitation of Cyberverse's art style and character designs.

As we said yesterday, the Nezha toys would be revealed today. And indeed, they have, on the Chinese site TMall. We see the Nezha mech which is basically him in giant robot form. The smaller Nezha figure can fit inside. This mold's transformation is based on the Cyberverse Spark Armor Bumblebee toy but with a different look entirely. The toy is 160 Yuan ($24 USD). We also have an image of this toy in its box, which is very similar to the Cyberverse packaging, making this a subline. The in package image comes from INCHIKIBANCYO on Twitter. These toys and show are only intended for Chinese audiences so there is no current plan for a release outside of that country.

I guess that settles it. The title of this series is officially "Nezha: Transformers". Time for a thread title change. ;)

I don't know anything about the source, but I like what's going on with the toy. The kid riding inside of the bot is pretty cool. So in the cartoon, does the kid become the bot? Also, is this figure a retool of one of the Bee figures? Looks similar, but I'm not really up on the Cyberverse stuff. Cool looking figure ;)^

Yes. That kid is a deity.

This is answered with great precision in the article ;)

It's based on his design from the 2003 Chinese animated series The Legend of Nezha.

Like a lot of others, I don't have any connection to the canon to put this on my radar, but I like the robot's car mode and transformation, and I like what I am seeing with the engineering as a whole, so I hope we get more of this down the road

Greetings Seibertronians! Fresh from the first official promotional pictures of the Chinese Exclusive Nezha : Transformers toyline and cartoon, we have our first video review!

Blog Autobase Aichi found both the new in package pictures of the Nezha figure and a video review on the Chinese social media site, Weibo.

Here is the new in package images, with a close up on the back showing another two characters from the show. These were posted by Weibo user DioXDio.

The video review details the articulation, the conversion from Robot to alt mode (as well as showing us what's underneath the car mode) and shows that the weapons can clip together (though this primarily looks to be for storage purposes rather then anything else.)

The video review is in Chinese though,so please bare that in mind. The review was created by Weibo User Tao Ge Evaluation.

What do you think of this first release of this exclusive toyline? Any of you feel the urge to hunt down Nezha? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Seems kinda weird to me to see a robot with a human face and what looks to be flesh like body parts ( ie. hands arms, feet ). I know the boy becomes the robot somehow but it still seems off in my brain. :-?
The car reminds me of a pimped out 300.

I can live with the fleshy color on the robot, but i do wish they hadn't used that color for the nubbins sticking off the weapons. That's the part that's weird to me.
