^ yeah, I recall with the :TAKARATOMY: selects they were like 2-3 months after the estimated shipping date, (always got delay notices) not prior like this one is. I guess they decided to do the whole "underpromise/overdeliver" strategy.

I think it was timing more than strategy. The selects were during the early days of Covid when shipping and the ports were all jammed up. Things have stabilized quite a bit since then, so Kaen coming early doesn't really surprise me at all.

Also just got charged this morning, so let's see if that will mean I get him this weekend or hav to wait a bit. I have some vacation time coming up next week and that would be perfect.

I've noticed a lot of my domestic import pre-orders have shown up a few months early, not just from Pulse. Looks like the old delays of around 5 months after the Japanese releases are behind us now.

Items usually take 7-10 days to get to me from Pulse, because they ship FedEx Ground (the slowest/cheapest possible). Honestly, items form Japan directly get to me quicker sometimes  .

While I was in a hurry to get the earlier Trainbots. Im ok with this one taking its time. I am excited to finally be done with this, but I wont have time to mess with it until a weekend, no matter when it comes. So it is what it is.

Wow, I didn't realize how big the box was for MPG 06S as compared to the regular release. Came from Pulse in a ridiculously oversized box too.

Wow, that box is massive, looks around the size used for Optimus or even Skyfire. I know there's a bunch of stuff in that box but I thought it'd be more compact. Mine first said Monday, but then said today, but we're supposed to get around a foot of snow so I really doubt it...

It's pretty cool actually. They made the box so you can do this.

The stands and sword stores below the 6 individual boxes.

Looks like they put more thought into the box than they did Raiden himself.

Ouch. But that is cool.

Surprisingly mine did come today, FedEx came through despite nearly a foot of snow, the post office wont even do that despite their moto. The box it shipped in was in fact massive, wasn't really all that thrilled with going out in the snow myself to get it off my porch. I don't really get it, but everyone leaves packages on top of my smoker and it isn't entirely flat on top. There's a bench right next to it! Checked to see if they took a picture of the delivery just to share the ridiculousness... uh, let's just say I wont be doxing myself posting this...

Glad I didn't have to file a missing package claim based on this image.

That is pretty significant. The company I work for ships via Fedex all the time, and I'm constantly having to track packages. They often get stuck at the Memphis TN HUB during winter storms. (well for priority overnight anyways). For Ground. I guess as long as the roads are clear and the trucks can move, they can still deliver. Mine is supposed to be here on Wednesday the 27th, but still no updates since it left Illinois last Thursday...

ok...so my giftset arrived Tuesday, and I got to mess around with Kaen on Wednesday night. Definitely a great individual train & bot. The Gift set packaging is absolutely beautiful. I love all the thought that went into is, and how great it looks.

As for Raiden himself. Its a bit disappointing, because I really like the characters from Headmasters. But assembling him was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in a while. This is how I felt afterwards:

Image

Most fans will no doubt keep them as trains, or individual bots. But as i am a fan of combiners, I fear that now I finally have him in a "stance", eventually the clips that wrap around to keep his arms in place will just give out. if you just touch them now in the slightest they unclip.

They never should have made the Trainbots go from 6 Masterpiece scaled bots to a Generations scaled Raiden. It made no sense when it was first announced and still makes no sense today and caused a mountain of compromises. If they had gone for, say 16" they could have really fixed the kibble issues and those hideous leg wings could have been actual wings like on the original toy instead of a big chunk of robot on the side of the feet.

And it would have gone well with the Titan class versions of Devastator and Predaking, both of whom are canonically Raiden's main rivals.

Same. Unfortunately, that "stance" is hunched over like he's straining for a poop.

Then again, The MP line rarely scales with any others. Or even itself EG MP Grimlock.

Question: In light of the announcement of Super Ginrai under the MPG banner and if Raiden (and redeco Raiden) is deemed financially successful enough. Would you want to see the other Japanese series-only combiners get the MP treatment? Instead of the other Gestalts that are constantly reproduced in other lines.

I'd be cool with it, had I not been so disappointed with Raiden.

As long as those Micromaster guys are scaled correctly. Unlike other combiners, they aren't giants. Six pint-sized Micromasters combine with some kibble parts to form gestalts who are closer to the size of normal Transformers.

Roadcaesar is probably the one that stands the best chance of happening and would probably be the most successful since it's making a three normal sized MPs into 12" combiner and not, you know, six with a bunch of leftover parts slapped on the legs and back.

Finally posting the photos of Kaen and Raiden as promised. My opinion still really hasn't changed, and unfortunately makes me very hesitant to do more with the MPG subline itself, even if road Caesar would be wonderful, and Super Ginrai is a great concept to do.

Also, I think I need a 2nd Kaen to stand individually, I think my first will remain combined, I don't really want to take Raiden apart, especially since he slotted in so nicely onto my main display shelf
