I like it. I was in either way, but I like it.

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering how far the aftermarket prices on the Masterpieces will drop?

I don't see how. If we are talking about Wheeljack, that MP is still the best WJ out there. Plus MP is a different scale entirely and they have licensed alt modes.

Because lately Hasbro has been giving us animation accurate figures that are "Close Enough" for most people so they can skip on the MPs. I have both versions of Wheeljack and while they're fantastic, if I had this version first I wouldn't have gotten the MP. The Masterpieces deliver in accessories and little touches that make them stand out.

Yeah looks a bit better than the previous two, but not much. Never was a fan of this mould. Wheeljack, sunstreaker and mirage were a bit disappointing compared to other excellent figures we’ve had recently.

Will I get this? Probably will for hound and I liked the trail breaker, .

Waiting for the destroyed ss86 version now… also, once they release a powerglide, I’m expecting a full hoist goes to Hollywood box set,

Yet another reason the windshield shouldn't have been squared off on the bottom.

It's not hard to figure out, if they left it rounded it would sit far below his waist and interfere with the swivel. This is more of a compromise since it allows full articulation and it pulls the bottom of the windshield up nearly as high as it is in the cartoon even if it means changing the shape.

Emerje
See my illustration above that shows what I mean. It needed to not only be rounded, but also smaller, which would place it above the waist rather than down in front of it.

No, I get the differences, but making it smaller would have also meant making the car mode somehow smaller since it's not a fake part. Changing the shape of the windshield and roof would have meant making it too small for the car mode, it's already quite small. Only way to get the the chest right is too entirely start over again.

The only way for that Wheeljack to have the "right" chest would have to use a fake part. It could have been possible to do, but they went the other route.

In clear brown, that chest work, but in "cartoon" baby-blue, it's just ugly.

Even though I prefer the opaque windows I do wish they wouldn't use that bright blue. The cartoon used the bright blue sparingly, usually going for a pale blue.

These "cartoon" windows on the toys would work much better if it were à print of some "cell-shaded reflexion." Not a plain, unified color.

Toyhax may fix this with Reprolabels, but it should have been done since the start.

Here's a better example of what I mean, showing the whole windshield in its vehicle mode shape, but with the cutting for robot mode still visible. On the left is the official cutting, on the right is my suggestion:

Or, hey, if nothing else, shaping the whole windshield like how it's shaped on the Authentics figure (which already cribs much of its design and transformation from the Earthrise figure, just made more simplified) would have been just fine:

:-? For the 35th anniversary, Hasbro repainted some Siege figures with cell shading, offered through Walmart. I'm not sure what the overall consensus was. If they were liked or not? I don't really mind either way. I've just seen some other companies try to do it was comic book based characters (Like Batman for instance) and the fans of those lines seem pretty negative towards it.

The problem with those release were that they cell shaded the whole figures, not just the windows.

Wow... not feeling Wheeljack at all, the opaque sky blue wind shield looks really odd with the squared off corners.

The issue is the rest of the car windshield needs to tuck into the shins, so not sure they could re-tool it to cut it any other way, or if it would have even been worth it to do.

Though, I'm still kind off annoyed its the only way to get Sunstreaker at a decent price.

Prepare for a flood of Wheeljacks hitting eBay once this 5 pack is released. I mean does anybody still need a Wheeljack at this point? One as awkward as Siege with opaque windows?

Somehow the squared off windshield looked less odd when done in translucent smokey black.

thought that was just a bad digi bash, if not then it really highlights how sausages the windows are on that wheeljack figure (I only picked up netflix version because it was £7). He could definitely have done with a retool like Hound.

Yeah, it look weird for the whole figure. Cell-shade just the windows and it would look great.

I feel like i traveled back to 2020 when wheeljack was first shown when everyone whined and complained about his windshield and now everyone is acting like this is the first time they’re seeing it. Cant wait for sunstreaker where everyone pretends it’s the first time theyre seeing his windshield on his chest…or this engine gun…or his little chinstrap/goatee.

Oh, I didn't like it back then either. I just wasn't as vocal about it at the time. :P

Considering how you live on the message boards and always have something to say about anything and everything I highly doubt you weren’t vocal about it 4 years ago.

LOL, I am on here a lot, aren't I?

I wasn't vocal about it back then because it was a figure I didn't want at the time. No sense bemoaning the look of something I didn't want to buy. ;)

People complained then, and now that it's made even more obvious with the blue people are complaining again. It's not a great looking design, people are allowed to complain about it.

Oh man, look at this. Why Hasbro couldn't have shaped the windshield like this from the get-go, I have no idea.

I don’t really like the look of the bottom of the torso that meets the waist being curved as if his lower torso is all glass. That looks awkward.
That’s also not how it looked in the animation.
Like I said, the bottom of the torso is fine being squared-off…. The issue is that the windshield should have only been a portion of that part. The character model has the windshield relatively short; all they had to do was cut a curved line into the torso— above the line have the light blue paint; below the line, leave it white plastic. It’s that simple.
As I said before, even if they didn’t want to mess with making the lower torso angled, what I described above is way better than what we’re getting.

Curving it would certainly have looked better, but that would have also meant hiding even more of that excess in the legs. The other thing is that photo shop above also stretched him out so the roof and windshield don't look too big, butt hat would have made for an oddly long car mode. Plus having the windshield so low means you've basically eliminated the waist swivel since it's now being blocked.

I don't think they are stretched. The 3d print files also appear to include ankle parts that increase his height.

Yeah, that's not a photoshop. Those are ankle pieces in addition to the windshield variants.

This is a full STL pack pack for a 3D printed parts to improve the look of Earthrise wheeljack.
It makes him taller and gives him a new chest. You can modify the chest and heels with no damage to the figure, you just need to push out one pin.
To get the full legs extension you will need to cut out a small part of the plastic on the feet.

Ah, I didn't realize that was a kit, that's why I called it a photoshop (I know there's a link there, I just thought it was a link to the source).

I don't like the way the car mode looks as a result of the smaller windshield. And watching the video for a clearer look it really does eliminate the waist swivel, the windshield is right up against it now.
