Strongarm looked pretty good, and that was the only thing I liked from the stream. It's also too bad they showed off the Hound mold for some other Junkion character before we even know Hound's fate.

Really happy with Strongarm. She's what I wanted for all the Prime and Animated figures, more faithful to the original character design.

Definitely getting trashmaster and detritus, love them. Getting Shadow Striker as well, strongarm idk. Her head looks a little weird for the body but I love the alt mode and the character is cool. I'll get Bludgeon too, headsculpt is cool

Strongarm isn't a perfect representation: I would've preferred a little more bulky, and I don't think they should have designated fembot molds. There are lots of different body types across genders and a long history of gender-flipping characters via redecoes only. But all of that aside, it still looks like a really good likeness, and I like the alt-mode too. The main thing I don't understand, and I've seen a ton of commentary on it online, is the head size. It looks totally normal to me, and very consistent with moldmate Elita-1. I just don't get it, but I don't doubt it genuinely bothers other people.

Also really excited for the lanky Shadow Striker. I would have personally preferred a more standard body shape, but I think splitting the difference between the Universe inspiration and the modern version was genius. Sometimes that sacrifice means you have two bad halves, but here it feels like the combo is more than the sum of its parts. Redecoes and retools are not just the reality but a major part of the franchise's legacy, so this kind of execution is inspired.

Junkion Combiner Revealed by Designer Mark Maher

Thanks to a heads-up from our own Sabrblade, we have our first look at the Junkion combiner teased by designer Mark Maher in the Hasbro Pulse livestream this morning. Feast your eyes on.....

Image

Using Trashmaster as the torso, Scraphook and Axlegrease as legs, and Crashbar and another (unrevealed Junkion?) as arms, Junkasaurus comes together looking pretty awesome. Mark revealed this on social media just a little while ago, and we're glad to bring this to your attention!

What do you all think about this combined mode? Are you going to get those Junkions you may have missed or on so you can create your own Junkasaurus? Let us know your thoughts below!

DAMN, not only is a Junkion gestalt an idea long overdue to be realized in plastic, I'd say this is also the closest we've yet gotten to a toy of Dragon Beast from that early TF:TM draft, despite its components not being passable Predacons of course.

Now I feel lazier than ever for still not having kitbashed PotP Elita-1 into a Nancy for 4 PotP Wreck-Gars with new heads to a attach to. Someday, Garbagia-Infinite, someday...

Is there any other time a combiner team has snuck up on us in such a manner, not revealing that they were such until some of their components had been in stores a while? Were there rumors of the Fossilizer gestalt from the time we knew of their Weaponizer-esque Mix-n'-match abilities?

EDIT: I know the Breast Force were introduced that way in the Victory anime, but they were obviously a gestalt team if you had even one, right? Or did a lot of European kids never realize they'd been somewhat cheated by the Rescue Force?

Oh, RESCUE, right! Anyone else think this thing was partly inspired by the Scrapmaster?

It is the mother of all coincidences that Hasbro planned to release a big dinosaur-shaped robot combiner made of non-dino-based components in the same year that BotCon is also releasing a big dinosaur-shaped robot combiner made of non-dino-based components.

Very cool.

I plan to get Trashmaster, Strongarm, Bombshell, Shadowstriker and Dreadwing. I'll probably get Detritus, too, but I want my Hound(!).

I was all about the core Optimus thing until I saw the price.

I'm guessing two of the not autobot junkions will work for the legs over the mix matched non decepticon junkion, looks like a cool idea.

Only just noticed the combo of faction symbols on detritus, nice :) much better than the silly merc symbol. Plus having him first will give a better idea if I want to replace classics hound or not.

I didn't realize that was a new junkion as the other arm I thought it was detritus, cool

Dreadwing looks much better with the official reveal, I think the leak only had yellow paint apps on the face and wrists

This one has it on the wings and nose cone as well

This honestly looks pretty cool! I'm probably just forgetting some but I don't think we've really had a combiner that's a beast like this that isn't...RotF Devastator or something.

Off the top of my head, there was this fiction-original Beast Mode version of Unite Warriors Lynxmaster.

Junkasaurus doesn't look huge - but he doesn't need to be huge to be awesome. Well played...

Man, the stream was cool today.

Snarl looks good as a robot and stegosaurus, but I am still not sold on the leg mode.

Shadow Striker just continues to make me unreasonably angry, just like Bulkhead. Just call it "Universe" Shadow Striker, not Cyberverse, and I think I'd be better.

Strongarm is a neat concept, but dammit, I hate that they used the Elita mold. That mold is pretty mediocre, and she is not nearly thicc enough.

Bombshell is OK, he might go well with FOC Kickback. Still need to find Shrapnel.

Detritus looks pretty decent, I will get him for the dinobot/junkion shelf.

Bludgeon is surprisingly really cool looking. They actually made that work really well. I will be getting him.

Trashmaster is excellent, that is such a cool new guy! And I love the Junkosaurus combiner mode, that is nifty and unique!

Dreadwing looks smart, I love him. He is mine.

the Prime/Bee set is pretty nice. no interest in me, but still a nice little pack.

Even that wouldn't fix everything since she's still colored more like Side Burn and has none of Universe Shadow Striker's deco.

But I'd at least feel better about it. That is not Cyberverse Shadow Striker, and it saddens me that they are basically checking that box off using this one.

Yeah. It simply makes no sense to G1-ify the Cyberverse designs since the Cyberverse designs are already G1-ified as they are. They're even more G1-like than the Unicron Trilogy designs.

Exactly, there isn't a good reason for it.

i like what they are doing, fusing designs and such, I do, but it feels odd when most of the figures are accurate, but select ones are fusions, and the fusions usually end up being the ones that I care for the most.

Also, In the stream they mentioned the movies in the Legacy talk. It makes me think/hope maybe some live action influent will makes its way into Legacy. Maybe a Blackout or proper Barricade. I'd like that.

Junkasaurus should be about the same size as other CW/UW/PotP combiners. This also works out perfectly considering the good guys were short by 2 in my overall Combiner Collection. This closes the gap.

I'll be substituting in Tow-Line for Axelgrease (to keep a faction-aligned combiner). Here's to hoping the Crashbar retool to make the other arm isn't also a Decepticon Junkion... :-s

I'm still getting Axelgrease though because all the Junkion weaponizers are really great.

That Junkion combiner is surely not an official mode nor a "canon" mode, but it sure is a "why not" mode!

It is, however, an intentionally designed mode!
