Are Hound's feet mistransformed? I might get him even with the mismatched paintjob.

Gotta love G1 and its weird proportions! :x

I missed that it's a licensed Jeep product, though that's not surprising. Has anyone confirmed if Buzzworthy SS86 Hound is licensed? I guess that's technically a question for the Buzzworthy thread.

I wonder why Hound's cartoon box has a picture of the G1 toy on the back, whereas Thundercracker's cartoon box has a picture of the toy enclosed.

I think the one on the box is something they mocked up from the original figure, notice it's missing the original stickers (pretty sure the repaint uses tampographs), seemed to try to dull the chromed parts (aside from the wheels) and probably hand painted the green.

honest question: why do you keep asking this?
It's the way G1 Hound transforms. Why do you think they are mistransformed?
What's so wrong about it?

About the mismatched paint, due to the difference between molded plastic color and painted die cast color. Can't get it 100% the same I would wager.

It is surprising, yet it isn't: The G1 originals were all unlicensed, as copyright laws weren't as strict until late 90's into 2000. Previous Hasbro reissues didn't need any licensing info (even if Vintage G1 Bumblebee was a formality), but it is interesting that Hound was never reissued here until now... :-?

Ahhh, I think you're right and PrimevsPrime did say they were all tampographs. I'm definitely looking forward to both of these.

I was going to put in a preorder for the retro Hot Rod as it recently became available again, but now it looks like the preorder is sold out. Hopefully the Hound and Thundercracker will last longer.

I asked a 2nd time because I didn't get an answer the 1st time.

I am unfamiliar with the original toy, and from these shots he looks like he's standing on Lego blocks instead of actual feet-looking feet. I thought maybe they weren't folded all the way out.

You did. I know, because I answered you in the other thread. ;)

It's just the back of the jeep folds down. G1 toys were less than streamlined. Specially molds pulled directly from Diaclone for Transformers in 1984.

Also, I guess they wanted Hound to look like he's wearing big bulky military boots.

Anyway, no foul. Thanks for clarifying.

The Diaclone molds were piloted mechs rather than living robots, so they were less focused about looking like metal people and more like big war machines.

More like moon shoes than military boots. ;)

Was that a preorder from aeons ago, or did you ordered it just recently?

The former. I ordered it with Starscream, this is the first time they've started shipping them.

Waiting on the shipping notice for mine too. I really hope this is because Walmart prioritizes stores before online orders.

I got the previous Hot Rod reissue from Walmart however many years ago, but never opened it, so I was surprised to open the cartoon deco Hot Rod and find he has diecast feet (instead of black plastic like the Targetmaster) and rubber tires. Mine does have a bit of an issue with the left foot, the bit of yellow plastic on the inside is misaligned so the foot doesn't want to fold out and click into place, but it doesn't seem to effect his standing. Also, TFWiki calls the formerly chromed parts "flat white", but they're more of a slightly metallic light gray.

I really love this figure, it looks great! I'm really impressed by how perfectly they matched the orange and magenta paint and plastic. I've always been the type of person who intentionally left off the majority of stickers on my reissues to make them look more like the cartoon models so this line is ideal for me.

Based on Starscream lingering on the shelves I wouldn't worry too much about getting Hot Rod. Hound, on the other hand, having never been reissued in the US before is the one I'm concerned about getting canceled on me.

Do both the lower legs lock in for robot mode?

Yep. At first I thought they weren't locking, but realized I just had to pull a little harder and they clicked into place nicely.
