Basically, it feels like if the Classics toys had recreated the original character designs instead of making updated versions then the current toys wouldn't have to keep going back trying to recreate what the Classics toys opted not to do.
This is such an outrageously bad take on Classics. Doing something semi-fresh at the time for a filler line made sense and sold well. The fandom was burnt out on reissues which scratched the itch for old characters. I'd love to see more innovative, non-G1 rehash character choices too but to retroactively blame Classics for it is nonsense. Current brand team's state of not being able to move on from the 1980s is no one's fault but theirs. And ours indirectly for buying it.

Anyway I came to post how much I love the concepts that Ironworks is bringing to the table. Hope to see more like that on Thursday, less like Prime and Grapple.

This Earthrise version Optimus Prime makes me glad I didn't buy any of the previous Siege ones.
They look more cartoon accurate in robot mode, but I lke this vehicle mode better.

For the Micromasters, I'm calling the white one 'Fast' and the black one 'Furious'.

Well, the name is dumb and disappointing, aNOTHER G1 Optimus is annoying and an immediate pass, I still have no interest in Micromasters, and Grapple I will have to see pictures of the actual figure first rather than renders before I reach a decision. Ironworks is awesome though, even though I thought he would be Ironfist, I'm glad the Weaponizer gimmick is continuing and evolving. Hopefully the stuff on Thursday will be overall more exciting.

The TFWiki Twitter posted some more details about these guys that no one here has mentioned yet, so time for learning:
-Big Daddy lost his name to trademark issues, he's now Autobot Daddy-O
-Optimus's trailer allegedly has a base mode, although I think it might just be the repair bay mode, since the trailer ramp has a base connector
-Optimus's Matrix can probably be removed, since it is listed as one of his accessories
-Grapple's claw has a base connector on it, apparently that new connector system is called "A.I.R. Lock connectors"
-It looks like Grapple's crane arm can extend and retract, it's different lengths in the two render shots
-Apparently the figure will come with segments of a "Transformers Universe Map" with hidden paths on it? I guess that's replacing the secret code gimmick?
-Numberings: Optimus is WFC-E11, Grapple is WFC-E10, Ironworks is WFC-E08, and the Hot Rod Patrol are WFC-E03

The other two Targetmasters were a Cybertronian dune buggy and a sports car that I think would be just fine with earth modes.

I've noticed a couple complaints about us not getting more Cybertronian Seekers, but I think it's too early to say that since Selects also had PotP figures and there's no sign of that line ending. Plus there's other store exclusives as options so the possibility is still there.

I do like the idea of Grapple getting a mountain or repaints because that figure looks fantastic and we're due for a new Hauler (and Artfire) figure.

Anyone else notice the c-clips? I know they've been pointed out in the ramps, but there's also a clip inside Grapple's claw and a rail on top of his gun.

Optimus now has hand articulation, probably so he can hold the Matrix or his chest open.

Ironworks (I love this figure!) might still be a Weaponizer. You can see in the large square parts (his legs) that there are pegs hidden in the ramps. Pegs that aren't used in bot or base mode. Lifting the ramps exposes the pegs making for big boots with shin guards. His hook arm has a peg on the top, the other arm has two pegs. The torso gets pegs from the shoulders that fold back to be used as a possible backpack. The other two smaller ramps have pegs on the underside that could be used as shields. He should pair up with Grapple nicely.

Can't wait to see more in a couple days!

I will say something that the leak list has me interested in is the Cliffjumper. Assuming it'll be an Earth mode, and assuming they continue with trying to keep scale, what accessories do you guys think they'll include with him to fill out the price point?

I'm guessing blown off face, blown open chest, blown off arm, and blown up legs, just to keep with the "Cliffjumper dies" trend.

Also maybe Ironworks isn't a weaponizer exactly. Maybe his gimmick is an armorizer, or utilityizer. That's why it doesn't seem to have many guns.

Since this looks like a heavy G1 inspired line, I'm hoping for an Ark playset that opens up to reveal the inside with Teletraan 1 and everything. Could be cool. Especially if it scaled.

I wonder why they gave prime yellow eyes instead of blue? A nod to the original G1 toy maybe? I prefer the blue eyes personally but that's just my preference

With HasTak’s current attitude? Nothing. But he’ll sell regardless, so they don’t have to add anything. >:oP

But isn't their current attitude to stick smaller figures in higher price points and pad them with lots of extra stuff like they did with several Leaders? Time will tell if that stays the same with other price points since this is our first potential case outside of Leader.

Absolutely, positively not. Especially with what’s going on in politics right now, but that’s something I stay well clear of. I can maybe see a retool or the current Voyager into something akin to the M1 Abrams, and I would totally buy it, but if it doesn’t happen, I’m perfectly happy with what we got.

well they could do what they have done for titans sixshot and siege shockwave make the one altmode as a ship or boat but flip it upside down and its a gun, somehow make megatron do the same so officially there's no gun mode but we all know better

Megatron's gun mode's supposed to be more realistic than either of those though. I think it's just safer on HasTak's part to just stick with tank Megatron's or even jets

It being an actual word doesn't make it any less stupid-sounding as a name for a toyline and disappointing in the War for CYBERTRON trilogy. Its definition doesn't even make sense in this context, Cybertron and Earth have never been depicted as close enough together for an earthrise to be visible. If they wanted a name to indicate them leaving Cybertron and arriving on Earth, Exodus and Arrival would both have been better choices.

The problem is, all those others are sci-fi guns, so they can get away with it. Even if they bring Megatron's gun mode off-model from a straight-up Walter P38, no way anyone's confusing an upside-down Earth gun for a "submarine". Only way they could pull that off is if they brought Megatron's gun mode so far off model from normal that it becomes unrecognizable as Megatron's gun mode and doesn't benefit the robot mode, so you might as well just make him a tank or something anyway.

*snicker* Remember me saying Trip-Up may not keep his name?

I just read the official Hasbro press release, and aside from revealing the new ID code format (WFC-E*), it reveals Trip-Up keeps his name... while Big Daddy lost his. He's now called "Autobot Daddy-O" *giggle*

I hope Megatron ends up being Leader class. Reshell the Siege figure to something more Earth-like and maybe include an artillery trailer for him to haul (pretty sure that wasn't a normal thing, but whatever) that could turn into something like his large canon to counter Prime's trailer I'd be all for it.

Phew!

Long time no see, everybody!

Coming back from my brief absence, and man, I am overwhelmed with all these new reveals!

I have got to comment on these awesome figures, and here ate my thoughts.

First and foremost, Prime. I already have the Siege Voyager figure, but you can bet I'm gonna get this new Leader. The robot mode and truck mode look great, but it's the trailer that I need. Sadly, no Roller, but 1) I'm not mad about that, and 2) He may be released as a Micromaster or small Deluxe.

The trailer looks beyond perfect for me, and i can't wait for it. The ramp becoming a shield is awesome, and if FOC Bruticus has taught us anything, it's that shields make for awesome melee weapons.

Also, removable Matrix?! Sign me up!!

Next up, Grapple. Man, oh, man, that is the Grapple I've always wanted as a Voyager! It looks like a simplified MP, and that is just awesome. I am in love with the grapple (hehe) hook, and I hope we get more accessories like this in the future.

Ironworks, our first(?) Deluxe Baseformer, and he just looks great for an original character. I recognize that his base mode was an original base for Micromasters back in the day, and it still looks awesome today.

Our Micromaster boys get some representation finally! Big Daddy Daddy-O lookin' fine tonight, and Trip-Up looks real good.

All in all, 12/10 for these new reveals. I'm getting all of these, and hopefully more when those get revealed soon.

:APPLAUSE: ;)^

I know that scale is a foul word in our fandom, but... I am glad we are finally getting a trailer that more realistically scales with Prime. Just a personal issue I've had since G1... My wallet will be hating me very, very soon... ;)^

I'm going to seriously reserve further judgment on Earth Rise because when Siege was announced I was the one crying foul at how bland, predictable and GEEWUN it was and then I ended up loving the crap out of the line.

New Image of Transformers Earthrise Ironworks Shows Modular Feature

The biggest surprise from yesterday's article on IGN showing the new Transformers Earthrise figures was Ironworks. The name being connected to the Micromaster base was a good clue but we never thought it would mean that actual base becoming a robot. We have an extra image of that newly revealed toy which shows just how modular it is. We knew it was a partsformer who could disassemble from a base and become a robot but now we see that it is modular and the base can be reconnected in more than just one. That means that the possibilities will be nearly endless once we get more of these figures into the mix. Below you will see that new image coming from Hasbro as well as the other mages we got. Let us know if you are excited for this guy and be sure to watch the live stream from NYCC to see the new reveals. You can click here to get all the details on the scheduling.
