So Lazer Prime was always meant to be RID Scourge from the beginning. Interesting.

Wait, what? How did you get that from what I said? His '95 counterpart is the Megatron and Starscream pack from the same year, I even posted a picture of it.

Emerje

Oh. I thought you meant G2 Optimus Prime who was a repaint of the G1 original with a black trailer and extra bits.
It would have been interesting.
Keyword in his post: "Laser"

You misunderstood.
I expected G2 Prime VS Laser Prime.

The real keyword would be 1995.
But he never mentioned the Dec. 1992 G2 Prime.

And that's why people should stop making a big deal out of this.
They started doing it right after G1 and it's been over 3 decades already since G1's finale.

Agreed, wasn't there an instance of it in G2?

On top of my mind, I don't think so.
So, it would be after G2 that names began to jump around. Unless it would count for Lazer Optimus and Tank Megatron, who had different shapes.
There were lots of instances in G2. The name "Afterburner", for example, was originally an Autobot Technobot in G1, but in G2 was instead the name of a Decepticon Skyscorcher.

And then there's probably the most famous name-reuse in G2, "Sureshot". In G1, the name belonged to an Autobot Targetmaster. In G2, he was Optimus Prime in all but name.

So I wasn't going crazy? Good to know!

We know distribution can be unpredictable, but at least we now see that the US is getting the final wave of 2023's Studio Series line at brick and mortar retail, as well as online. We've had reports that the following have been found in Target stores across the US:

- Deluxe wave including SS-104 ROTB Nightbird and SS-105 ROTB Mirage
- Leader class Studio Series SS-106 ROTB Optimus Primal
- Voyager class Studio Series SS 86-23 Ratchet (who is packed with WFC Optimus Prime)

And of course, this goes with the news of the core class figures being found the other day.

We have video reviews for some of these toys below if you are interested:

I was looking forward to have a closer look at SS Mirage as He has a really cool alt mode but I'm a bit deluded: the slots between the panels are too wide and evident, also becuase the car painting is bright and clear, so the Carrera looks like a patchwork; the bot mode looks great but the doors on the sides of the hips are a bit bulky.

A good figure, anyway: I'm gonna buy it

If they had given 86 SS Ratchet non-transparent plastic, I might have picked it up. But having the transparent plastic as such a significant part of his construction, as they did with SS 86 Ironhide, leads me to pass this one by unless it's on clearance discount in the future. I mean, I'm Death - but that weak plastic even scares me!

I've missed the previous releases, will be nice to finally get one for my collection.

Not personally interested in this guy, but if concept art characters from the movies culminates in characters like ROTF Springer getting Studio Series figures, that’d be cool!

I would prefer getting our on-screen cast finished first though. Give us Que, Hatchet, Frenzy, Devcon, and the huge roster of missing characters from AOE/TLK!

Well, since he never appeared anywhere, Mega Tank is still a "valid" design. And a better one.

I finally got SS Cheetor today from Amazon, through a sale. The figure is average. And I was waiting on it to do my top 5 Cheetor toys list but it's gonna be hard because none stand out, not even the MP. All are ok, but not great. Number 1 might go to the transmetal and number 2 might go to the Universe/Nightslash BM version. For an amazing and well loved character, he hasn't gotten many great toys.

I thought the mainline deluxe from ROTB was fantastic.

I bought that Cheetor at full price and I regretted not waiting for a sale.
That ROTB Cheetor is BELOW average because for some effing reasons, he's a BRICK in beast mode. How the F such a thing could happen?

IMO, he's barely different than the Kingdom and the fact that the cheetah is wearing trousers make him look stupid... At least, worth owning for that alone!

It definitely feels like this brand team doesn't like Bayverse all that much, with how much Studio Series has been diluted with other stuff over the last couple of years. 1986 was fair enough, but since then we've had video games thrown in there and now they're dipping into concept designs for characters who aren't in the films, it's like they're jumping on any possible reason to not make Bayverse characters. It's a shame too, because there are so many good Bay designs that are long overdue new toys, like Que, Onslaught and Frenzy.
Personally I have no interest in the Beewun designs so this Megatron is a very easy pass for me, but I know it will most likely be a massively popular toy once it's out.

You’ve gotten over 80 bayverse figures in studio series and most of the exclusives have been bay stuff. It’s literally up to 109 figures and that’s not including SS86 And WFC. This line is becoming one of the longer running ones that’s happened. What you call diluted others would say expanded. It’s always a fun day when a studio series figure gets revealed or leaked and it’s “it’s not a bayverse figure. They just don’t care about those fans” with walls of them behind them or at home
