It's with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Ichiro Mizuki on December 6. He was 74. He'll be remember by Transformers fans as the singer of the opening and ending theme songs for Transformers: Zone. He revealed in July that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to his lymph nodes and brain, this followed partial vocal chord paralysis he had been receiving therapy for since 2021.

Mizuki had the nickname "the Emperor of Anime Songs" due to his 50+ year career singing songs for many well known anime titles as recently as 2021, many of which were based on giant robots and heroes. His credits include several Kamen Rider and Super Sentai titles, Getter Robo Go, Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Lupin III: Part II, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Combattler V, Star Blazers 2199, Go-Lion, Voltes V and Tiger Mask II to name only a few.

Wow...so.very sad. You know I've never been to a music concert in my life. But Japan packs stadiums with thousands of fans just to hear performers such as Mr. Mizuki sing their favorite anime themes. If such an event ever came close to my area I'd definitely go.

This gentleman was still performing and had an amazing voice. He is the major contributor to the music of most of my favorite Super Robot series.

I first became aware of him through JAM Project, them dove into his back catalogue. He's done such incredible work over his career and some of my favourite tracks, even to lesser known anime like Zone of the Enders Dolores.

I wish his family the best, RIP.
