I agree 100%. A much better, less stupid human.

How...or IF it fits into the G1 continuum...just because there were a million G1 references in the program doesn't mean it's going to be a continuation/sequel to G1. But I like where it's going...very much indeed.

The references were most likely just a nod to the fans. This series is most definitely another reboot.

KoH4711 wrote:After watching a lot of this, I have to say I don't think this is a direct tie-in with G1. I got the impression(if it wasn't said outright, I can't remember) that Decepticons hadn't been seen in quite some time, and the Great War was a fairly distant memory.

What I could see this being, however, is an alternate dimension, with a lot of the same history, and then the loss of the Allspark/Matrix splits into two possible histories... one where the Great War continued, and one where it ended as is being show in Animated.

I am really enjoying the series thus far. It's a lot of fun, and I'll be interested to see where it goes from here. I do like the way they handle the Decepticons.

I agree. I think G1 and Animated have the same history until Megatron kills Sentinel Prime in G1. Obviously Sentinel Prime is alive in Animated, so I'm thinking he, like Optimus in the Movie, shot the Allspark into space, and then faced off against Megatron. Maybe he got a boost of Allspark energy before he shot it into space, but however he did it, he managed to beat Megatron. Defeated, but hoping to find the Allspark, Megatron led his Decepticons into space to search for the Allspark, leaving Sentinel Prime ruler of a Decepticon-free Cybertron.

So with Sentinel Prime not dead, there was no need for Optimus to become Prime. I get the feeling that if Optimus wasn't always called "Optimus Prime" in all the cartoons and comics, that he wouldn't be Optimus Prime in Animated, he would just be "Optimus." Everyone knows Optimus as Optimus Prime, so they kept the full name more for name recognition reasons than true, in-story rank reasons.

So there we go. We have an Optimus that has the potential to be a Prime, to be the great leader we know and love from G1, but without Sentinel Prime's death, and with no war to fight and gain experience from, he's just the small-time leader we see in Animated.

Anyway, that's my take on things. It will be interesting to see if I'm right or not.

Overall, I love this show! It really is the best written since Beast Wars. :APPLAUSE:

I missed the first hour (fortunately it's re-airing this Saturday)..but what I did see, I was thoroughly impressed. I still don't like the toys at all, and I do think some of the TFs are a tad too skinny, but the rest of it was pure win.

So dark and violent for a TF show, especially in today's world of censorship...I was absolutely floored when Starscream was stabbed.

I just...yeah..I'm impressed.

Perfect? No. A lot of fun? Yes.

This really has the potential to be a really badass cartoon. This really set the bar high, so hopefully following episodes will be just as good. I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned Bulkhead, since he was one of my major issues with the new series. After watching this though, out of the main cast he has to be my favorite, though I'm really looking forward to more Blitzwing and to get to see the Cybertron Elite Guard. And oh yeah, Starscream was a total douche, just the way he should be.

Thanks for reminding me to talk about Blitzwing. I'm ok with the whole changing faces ala "Man-E-Faces", but that third personality was appaling. I don't want to see more of that one.

That third face on Blitzwing made me think too much of the Joker. The other two were interesting, but the third sounded... um... "out of character", imo.

I really liked this show. They portrayed Bumblebee, Prime, Megatron, and Starscream better than ever! Plus, the animation style is easy to get used to.

I LOL'd when...
-The cliche fat kid who went out into the field to see the thing that dropped out of the sky became the creator of all robots.
-Blitzwing started dancing.

I had my dad DVR it and burn a DVD of it for me, since I do not have anything but rabbit-ear TV....There were parts of it that showed promise. Starscream was dead-frikkin-on, even for Spongebob Squarepants...and in TRUE Screamer-the-total-tool form! I really saw great promise in Megatron, he's quite a maniacal tyrant (what we saw of him!)....the rest of the Cons, though was a different issue altogether--I was not impressed. Blitzwing with his fake german-ish accent and one face as a missing-toothed Arnold Schwartzenegger-ripoff just made me wanna hurl. Blackarachnia just seemed like the Con that didn't belong, with her spidey-form and all...I am, however, holding out a glimmer of hope that they will do something with them deeper later.
The Autobots were equally split with me. Prime has promise, for sure, but I am yet unimpressed (still like Kaye better as Megatron!). Prowl, however, impressed me....I likes attitude! Bumblebee was, well Bumblebee (didn't like any incarnation of him anywhere, so huzzah for consistancy!) Ratchet was another character who could either go great or go uber-stinko!

And DO NOT get me started on the humans! I am strongly of the opinion that they will always suck in all TF series, so there was never any hope with me for any of them.

Judgement of Pyrostrata: Meh.

I thought it was a great start, much better than Beast* and the Unicron Trilogy. Now I just hope they keep going the way they did this time and not blow it.

Friendly FYI: The subpoenas I get on a near daily basis for people who think the same thing about "currently unbuyable tv shows" would fill Astrotrain in a way that Devastator never could. Do try not to get yourself or this site caught because they do prosecute for this all the time.

Megatron_Wolf wrote:That was the biggest suck fest since armada. The first 15min was good but once they got to earth it went to hell. Looks like ill be DVRing this crap just so i can see the good crap if any. The only thing they did good were the bots. If there were no humans than it might have been a good show. Theres just one thing i dont get, if this is takeing place after G1 then how is Megatron not Galvatron and how is Optimus young? They needed to discuss this. If this Prime just got the name Optimus and if this is a new Megatron or if Galvatron for some reason decided to be called Megatron again. As of now im not liking it. Ill watch one or two more and see if there is some potential. If not then im using my DVR juts to see the Decepticons blow **** up.

EDIT: oh and my DVR cut off the last few minutes. What happend after that scientist got off the giant robot hand? I take it they showed Megatron.

Well Megatron is semi similar to SuperMegatron from BattleStars.

As I've stated, I'm looking at this as an inbetween series. Megatron, Ultra Magnus, Ratchet, Starscream, and maybe(but I doubt it) Blitzwing are surviving G1 characters.

Optimus is a namesake, as is Prowl and BumbleBee, the same way Optimus Primal was.

I don't know how this will actualy tie in to the series, but I like to try and put all the TF universes into a continum. Realy it's for the sake of my collection, and as I watched it, I had BWTM Megatron set up in front of my TV with one of the Golden Discs(he's studying a forgoten past). This will help me welcome the couple figures I intend on getting.

So realy, writing wise, this was realy good, and I was hoping for that. But as I stated earlier, the art work(or lack of) is realy going to hurt this series for me.
