Will the lego set be available on Amazon?

If you can't wait until December Tamashi Blue Fin will have a SDCC exclusive set with parts to make a blazing sword.

I have the Voltron Super Mini-Pla set on pre-order through AmiAmi after they recently started taking another batch of pre-orders. The price is waaaay better than the domestic price, at $44 even after shipping I figure I'll save quite a bit over TFSource's $60 or BBTS's $62.

That Lego set, I didn't know that was coming. If it weren't for already having $200+ in August pre-orders I'd jump on it.

What are the odds of Lego Voltron selling out? I don't really want to pay full price unless I think it's going to sell out, and I'm not familiar enough with the Lego collector market.

The problem is with TRU no longer an option you dont have a dedicated place for Lego anymore. The Lego store will always have it full price so as to not undercut the retailers and I never see these sets at Walmart. So the only options will be online but there arent lots of specials there. My guess will be the best price will be one year later when bought directly from Lego at about 15-20% off.

For what it's worth, target.com is carrying a lot of the tru lego's, like the speed champions sets, and some of the idea's sets that this set is a part of. Doesn't mean they'll get it, but they tend to go fast in general

I think the better question is how fast will it sell out? Joking aside, I do feel this is the sorta thing that will be a perfect storm of low production and rabid Voltron/Lego fans. Might wanna get your F5 finger warmed up.

Nope, they are normally carried in lego stores in somewhat limited quantities and they used to be regularly stocked by tru, but they're gone, however, like I said, target.com has some listings of the older idea's sets.

If anyone wanted to build this toy for as cheap as possible, this is it:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2018-NE ... autifyAB=0

And yes, its a KO. I have bought Lepin before, the only part where they suck are with paint on the minifigs and firing projectiles. So I am guessing this one should be fine.

Barnes & Noble also sells Lego Ideas sets in stores. I go there for my nephew's and niece's Legos at Christmas since they have a large selection, the prices aren't marked up, and they're usually the last place people look so their shelves are always packed while Walmart's and Target's are empty.

While I normally wouldn't buy a KO, Lego are a fuzzy area for me since Lego bricks aren't patented outside of carrying a Lego logo. If the set doesn't include custom pieces or mini-figs (and I don't think this set does), it's just a box full of generic bricks in the shape of Voltron. On the other hand someone did go through the trouble of designing the set and it is absolutely something someone would buy in place of an official set and to me owning something official is the whole point so I'll pass on the KO. Now if Lepin wanted to make an original Vehicle Voltron set of the same quality I'd be on board.

But then again rememebr that Lego Ideas is not a Lego Design either, thats the whole point of that subline. They did not pay a designer to come up with it. All Lego did was deal with the licensing.

So we have a set of non patented construction bricks for a set not designed by Lego. Pretty fuzzy.

Actually they do pay a designer. Lego Ideas is a contest more than anything for fan designed sets. If a set is made Lego actually pays royalties to the designer.

Lego Ideas wrote:New LEGO Product—our team transforms your design into an actual LEGO product sold around the world.
Projects selected in the LEGO Review go into production. You give input to our professional LEGO designers, whose job it is to create the final set based on your project. Once complete, it goes to the factory, then it’s shipped around the world and released for sale. You’re featured in set materials, receive a royalty on sales, and are recognized as the product creator. Your supporters can now own the LEGO set they helped make happen on LEGO Ideas.

I'm sure it's only a fraction of what an in-house designer would get, but it's still something they're paying out for. Plus there is that pro designer that's also working on finalizing the design for retail that would also have to be paid. It's called Lego Ideas because people pitch set ideas, but it's up to Lego staff to make them feasible, it's a lot more than just negotiating a license on their end.

This is what the pitched set concept originally looked like:

Compared tot he final product:

It isn't even the same.

My order is in. I have a few non-collector friends who also bought 2 each. Not familiar with Lego but wouldn't be surprised at all if this sold out.

For those that ordered the Lego set, did it arrive in good condition? Lego packed mine in a thin cardboard box without enough padding inside. The boxes are slightly beat up. My friend's arrived today and it looked like the FedEx guy stepped on the box.
