I haven't bought any of these before, but Loco was one of my first GoBots so this is very tempting... Looks like a pretty crazy transformation.

Hopefully after DX Bike Robo Action Toys has turned a corner and the figures going forward will be solid.

I pre-ordered this guy. He looks so cool! I love train robots, and the only Gobot I own is the original Loco, given to me by a coworker.

This is really cool!

If I'm not mistaken the original toy was a retool from the previous years Sentai series. The pre-order for Blue Jet mentions it comes with ONE sword, but is shown with two.

Blue Jet's looking a little red to me... ;)

Is Tough Trailer any sort of updated Go-Bot?

I don't think though trailer was released here. It's a retooled sentai toy.

I think the "blue" was meant as a metaphor?

And the original Tough Trailer (as well as his "Brother" Pro Truck Racer) was retooled from Titan Boy from Choushinsei Flashman:

They didn't. I believe one of the two was released standalone and the other came with a trailer.

:EDIT: Ah, it was Tough Trailer that came with one, similar to Optimus Prime's.

All right, thanks. I'm still gonna get him and put him on my Go-Bots shelf. 'Tough trailer' is still a very Go-Boty name.

According to the video tough trailer can combine with the trailer to form a bigger robot. Was that something removed from the machine robo release?

The original Choushinsei Flashman version was a truck-and-trailer combo mech named Flash Titan, but which was specifically the name of the truck-and-trailer vehicle form. Individually, the truck and trailer had no names in their vehicle forms. When the red truck transformed into its robot form, it was named Titan Boy. When Titan Boy combined with the nameless trailer, they formed a larger robot named Great Titan.

When reused in Machine Robo, only the Titan Boy portion of the Flash Titan set was used, colored blue and named Tough Trailer. The actual trailer part itself was not brought over for Machine Robo.

Tough Trailer was then retooled into another Machine Robo character named Pro Truck Racer, this time as a black truck. But like with Tough Trailer, the trailer from Flash Titan was still left out.

Thus, these new Action Toys releases of Tough Trailer and Pro Truck Racer (the latter has had a prototype seen) are based on the original Machine Robo versions that were both based on Titan Boy but which lacked the Flash Titan trailer that enabled Titan Boy to form Great Titan, and thus could not form a larger robot form of their own.

Darn. Still cool we're getting a figure of a character that was a retool of a Sentai figure.

Well to be honest, they're consistent with releases. I guess one or two a year is their schedule. I, unfortunately, had to cancel some of their classic transforming mecha figures last year and now of course can't find them.

This isn't a toy update, but since this is basically the main thread for Machine Robo, we have some news from Discotek regarding the first ever full release of Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos coming to Blu-Ray, completely subtitled in English for the first time ever!
