I'm amazed to see this having happened at all since I didn't think they even could do so at first, what with the rights having been split between three different companies, two of which being rival companies even.

I'm right there with ya! How many things in life are overly complicated due to regulation or IP rights holding. But, since we actually got a VW Beetle MP Bumblebee, I like to think anything is possible. This only furthers the hope!

On the other hand, might there have been some rights lapse or other timing? (Actually, I'm not that curious. This is one of the reasons I have no desire to become a lawyer...)

Having asked around about this, this appears to be a case of "Action Toys just did it on their own to see if they could get away with it since no one at Warner Bros. would really care that much to make any kind of fuss over it".

So... yay for WB's apathy? :P

*chuckle* Sure, why not? Better to ask for forgiveness? I suppose it is just a Cykill face at this point. And Warner may have other issues to deal with anyway. (Discussion for another thread.) I might have to get this Cykill now. I have their Leader-1. Might as well get the pair...

I don't have too many regrets in life, but searching for Machine Robo on ali express is definitively one of them.

That price is ridiculous.

They still haven't released Blue Jet yet, and I need to get Rod Drill. Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos was actually a good series, some animation errors though because Zeta Gundam is in an episode somehow lol

Maybe I read it wrong or BBTS has lowered their price to match TF Source. $120 either way.

Amid all of the SDCC news, there has actually, finally, been an update on the status of the forthcoming figures of this Machine Robo line.

Action Toys was at TFCon Toronto and showed off the following figures on display:
  • Supercar Robo (GoBots counterpart: Turbo)
  • Blue Jet (GoBots counterpart: Fitor)
  • Prototype of Pro Truck Racer
  • Prototype of Jetlancer (whose name would make more sense as "Jettranser" since it's a jet and transport truck)

I think I see the locomotive guy too. Really excited for these. I hope they're as good as DX Bike Robo

Some other Machine Robo toy news has been revealed at SDCC, but not from Action Toys.

Tamashii Nations is launching their own separate line of Machine Robo toys in 2019, and I'm not sure if they look like they transform, or if they're just normal action figures.

Well, "normal" isn't exactly the right word for these as far as their looks go. Two figures on display were Supercar Robo and Bike Robo, and both of them look... weird. Very weird.

Supercar Robo is all blocky and boxy for some reason, resembling neither his original toy nor his Revenge of Cronos animation model (and especially not Turbo's animation model from GoBots).

Bike Robo, meanwhile, looks more like something out of Gurren Lagann or Evangelion, having some freaky looking proportions, details, and weaponry.

Here are the pics from Toyark:

Not all that crazy about the new designs, hopefully we'll get an explanation at Wonder Festival.

Yup, that's Loco, aka Steam Robo.

And Tamashii Nations... Machine Robo, or a Netflix-exclusive Gobots reboot?

Finally! Colored pics of one of the bigger, non-GoBots-related Machine Robo figures coming from Action Toys: Tough Trailer, whose original toy was made from the toy mold of the mech named Titan Boy from the 1986 Super Sentai series Choushinsei Flashman.

What's more interesting is that Titan Boy was part of a truck-and-trailer mech called Flash Titan that was originally an attempt by Bandai to make their own answer to Transformers's Optimus Prime/Convoy for Super Sentai. When the mold was used to make Tough Trailer for Machine Robo, the original trailer unit itself was not carried over.

When this line was first announced there was speculation about characters like this, that were borrowed from other lines being included. I think we've seen prototypes of the "Brother" mech that was also retooled from the Sentai figure. Due to the size do you think this will be released under the DX lable?

Are these two sizes comprable to Deluxe and Voyager? I seem to remember reviews of the first ones ( I think even Chuck's) comparing them to TF Deluxes.

This big truck dude is so cool looking. I love how they aren't trying to modernize these. Just doing them better, but sticking to their OG 80's designs.

Right now there's only one figure at the DX size, Bike Robo, and it's closer to Voyager. They haven't done a basic/regular figure as big as truck guy. While this is cool I feel there are other figures that should be released sooner than this.

Since we were talking about it I figured I'd share my review of the DX Bike Robo figure. This right here is figure of the year thus far.
