Nice! I think the Clone Trooper mold (sergeant included) is a bit better than the Storm Trooper one. Better range of motion, in my opinion.

Looking forward to Rex and Cody.

Yesterday I found the 6" Han Stormtrooper at a Target. He's a pretty nice figure.

I have my eye on it but I'm waiting for the Luke one to come out. Ya know I was thinking about this the other day, We could use a really good 4" Had in the classic vest look, hopefully with ball jointed hips and not just a swivel.

I've not been paying a lot of attention to Star wars toys lately but I do tend to look at them as they come into the store when they are on the shelves I do see some things I like from time to time.

I am some what turned off from the idea of paying premium prices for 5 points of articulation product though.

So it got me wondering what is the Episode 7 toys going to be like - will they be all 5 points of Articulation stuff ? and then a separate even more premium priced Black version of the same stuff ?

I thought I saw some stuff that had articulation a little like a 2005 Gi Joe with OK arms and simple swivel legs and knees if you're lucky.

I the new Movie toyline is more like Rebel's toyline and less like even the functional minimum articulation (above 5 points).

Then how will the broader public react to that will they be on board regardless or will they look at the toys and think "No thanks".

Looking at the Jurassic World toys I actually didn't mind their simplistic nature it makes them more or less fit with the older toys well enough and they were pretty cheap in many stores.

Now remembering how Hasbro did Prequel toys in the style of the early 1980's as a thing with just 5 points of articulation - that did work - unfortunately they took that to be an excuse to think that people didn't mind the lack of joints - where as speaking for myself I just took it as them looking right in context with the vintage toys (and they were cheaper).

I suppose I should complain to much though as the Age of Ultron Toys were irredeemable bad shrunken poorly moulded things that looked like escapee's from The Island of Knock off toys.

So I suppose it is possible to have worse toys that 5 point of Articulation ones.

What do you folks anticipate the public reaction to Episode 7 toys to be ?

------

[EDIT] 14-August-2015 :

I have seen the new Star Wars toys now they do have that 1980's look to them the sculpting is actually pretty good the articulation is pure 1980's though. They also come with comedy Backpacks that don't do anything useful (I'd rather they came with Build a creature or build- a bot parts).

So it looks like my fear was justified they plan to sell everyone the same thing twice once as minimal articulation version and again later as Star Wars Black label toys with more joints at a higher price.

I will add a caution though the Toys are pretty spoilery so if you want to go in to the Movie cold avoid the toys and latest images & materials.

I will say one thing though the C3PO body modification is a bit cynical - obviously done for merchandising reasons much as the Millenium Falcon Sensor dish Mod likely was too.

Shame they didn't feel that they could use the modest number of Joints Winter Soldier toys have - then I'd have been more happy.

I only recently saw the images of the Force Awakens figures, and I'm torn. I am super happy about a bunch of new troopers to buy, but I am really not happy with the five points of articulation, and I can't honestly say why. With the Rebels figures, I dislike the 5 poa thing in conjunction with not liking the cartoony look of the figures. That cartoonishness was my issue with most of the Clone Wars figures as well. At the present time though, I'm not sure where I'd even display the FA figures, so the 5 poa may not be that much of a deal breaker when I actually see them in the stores.
The Black Series ones, I am all for. My Black Series collecting rule is that I only collect Imperial characters, so at the moment that limits me to Ren and the trooper, but I think we can all guess that the other - or some other - troopers will come out, given the way the existant Black Series has encompassed everyone but the snowtrooper by now.

For the 3.75 figures, I'd rather have elbows and knees than weapon parts, but to me those joints make the figures feel less cheap, as in value wise, not quality wise.

There will be 4" Black series figures for the Force Awakens too. Probably not as many as the kids line but still better than nothing

So Star Wars collectors, I don't really collect Star Wars but I've been digging the 6" Black Series the past couple years, and could use some insight on the latest releases. Looks like the last couple waves aren't going to hit retail? Already grabbed an IG-88 off Amazon, but looks like I should be doing the same with Boushh if I want one?

That would be correct! I'd get most of the latest two waves online if you can.

That said, the wave with Palpatine/Han Trooper/Luke Trooper/Clone Captain have been hitting drugstores in my area lately, so those may see retail soon.

I would also check out HTS once the site is back up. They had cases of 4 for the last two waves at $72 a pop and might clearance them out once Force Awakens product arrives.

I actually got those at Walmart of all places. It was the one Walmart I can think of that actually sold through their Christmas stock of the Stormtrooper wave.

Nice! No Wal-Marts in the city where I am. Targets are still chock full of Leias and Greedos, though Jabba is on clearance for $17.50 (which isn't bad).

TRU also has the Speeder Scouts on sale for $20, which is a fantastic bargain.

Did we all go out Force Fridaying? I picked up most of the figures I wanted, nabbing a TIE Pilot, a regular trooper, a flame trooper and the 6" Kylo Ren. My wife got the POP Phasma. Now all I need is the 6" trooper, the 3.75" Phasma and the snowtrooper, who I don't think is out yet, and then I'm done for the time being.

I didn't go out - there were midnight openings all around my area, but my work hours are weird, and I have to be on the phone with folks who are 9.5 hours ahead of me at that time. :(

I did, however, preorder all the waves at BBTS, as well as put in preorders for these neat exclusives:

Entertainment Earth exclusive 4-pk:
