Mebbe. That's the deluxe or smaller sized stuff, right? Partsforming for transformation (which is fine)?

Bing'd that as I didn't know what "Super Minipla" was..

I got some more info, the 4 limbs will probably have spring loaded weapons and the black lion will have lights and sounds like the newer version.

They are up on BBTS: $39 for the black lion, $89 for the set of limbs!

Since I have the SOC and am not a completionist, it's an easy pass for me. I do kinda want a nice version of the Netflix Voltron, but haven't seen anything from Playmates that is even close to tempting.

Walked into TRU yesterday and to my surprise, they had Voltron stuff! Non-combining lions and Voltron figure.

They also had the combining black lion but only him, none of the limbs even though the tags were there for them. Not sure if it was new stock and they were still filing the shelves or the other four had sold out.

For those that have him, is the modern combining Voltron worth it? (In total he'll cost roughly $180AUD)

Yes. I really love how the individual lions are really great action figures in and of themselves (except for the Black lion, he is clearly meant to be a torso). They also have a lot of playability each with missiles, and small riders that you can fit inside. He is really big too and the plastic doesnt feel cheap at all. My cost was pretty similar and I am not regretting it. The only thing you have to prepare yourself is that there is some lacking articulation for the combined mode, like the lack of a neck joint which really limits the cool poses you can do. That is my only major beef with the guy.

I did wonder about his articulation. The box itself does very little to sell the figure other than a graphic which shows they combine. There's no actual image of the combined form which is one of the reasons I didn't buy him (the other being the lack of limbs) until I could see pictures of him on something larger than my phone.

I do not know how sacrilegious what I am about to do is, but there is a nice gallery that you can find here which will give you the best idea of the poses you can do with him.

Yo Burn, I think you should get him. I saw Willy-J's acquisition pictures, questioned him about it relentlessly, then spent 2 months hunting down the components. I found the limbs back in February and didn't get black lion until near the end of March. He is a bit limited, but he's still so damn cool. He is one of the few non-transformers hauls I have gotten over the past few years, and there is no regret.

Have some of my pictures below, taken previously and probably seen by you before, but for a reminder of how cool he looks:

I'll back up that the lions are pretty damn cool and a lot of fun. I've picked up 3 of the 4 limbs so far. I will say that I got two of them at 50% off. I feel that they are a little pricey and should be priced at about 25% less, but I'm a cheap ass. There is also that boxed set (if it makes it your way) that is just a bit less than buying them separately. Still got black and yellow to go.

   I am a cheap ass too, so don't worry too much about that!

One thing I really like about the limbs is how lethal the weapons are. Yellow Lion can launch a disc the whole way across a room, and the missile launchers are pretty powerful too. Impressive pieces of weaponry the lions have

Megatron with the black lion is just the most perfect pairing.

You are correct about that. You could almost put an eye out with those things.

I saw the toys before I watched the show. The first thing I thought were how dumb they looked "Voltron" doesn't use gimmicky weapons. Then I saw them use almost the exact same weapons on the show. Paint me impressed. The only thing missing are some of the lion specific special weapons that Voltron uses. Well and that dope ass wing set the black lion gets.

I'm excited to complete the set and super relieved all the lions are readily available at retail now.

Not going lie though, the first thing I'm going do when Voltron is completed is have him fight CW Devastator :michaelbay:

Yeah a good short review of the figure would be:

Some flaws but 0 regrets.
