Munkky's developing Generations collection

It's been a few years since I last posted pics of my collection on Seibertron, and a lot has changed since then, so I thought I'd start a new thread. I'm now displaying my Generations figures in two Ikea Detolf cabinets (apologies for the potato camera): Image
Image
The way I've set up the display is Autobots/Maximals on one side, and Decepticons/Predacons on the other. Because of how narrow Detolfs are I'm limited to how many figures I can fit on each shelf, which is good in a way because it stops me from impulse-buying a crap-ton of figures.
The first shelf in the Autobot Detolf is 1984 Autobots, right now I'm displaying Combiner Wars Optimus, Ironhide and Prowl, Unite Warriors Ratchet and Thrilling 30 Bumblebee. The space to Bumblebee's left is reserved for Power of the Primes Jazz when it's out. I may also swap out Optimus for either Titans Return Powermaster Optimus or that POTP Leader we saw in the leaks.
Image
Next up is the '86 Movie crew, I have Thrilling 30 Arcee and Springer, Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus and Titans Return Blurr and Hot Rod. I was going to get Wheelie as well, but I think it looks fine without him.
Image
Third shelf is Maximals, though sadly there aren't many. I have Universe 2.0 Dinobot and Takara LG-EX Rhinox and Rattrap. Of course I'm going to get POTP Optimus Primal when he's out, and if Hasbro doesn't make a new Cheetor I'll just grit my teeth and get the Universe 2.0 version.
Image
I've put any character that doesn't fit into the above categories onto the bottom shelf. Unite Warriors Wheeljack is there mainly because I was running out of room on the top shelf, and he's alongside Thrilling 30 Chromia and Titans Return Alpha Trion and Sentinel Prime. I plan to fill the gaps with a Titans Return Perceptor (Smyths still have them for a good price thankfully), POTP Elita-1 and the Autobot Prime Masters when they're out.
Image
For the Decepticon Detolf, I've put Combiner Wars Megatron and Bombshell, Thrilling 30 Shrapnel and Titans Return Blitzwing, Astrotrain and Kickback on the top shelf. Lots of purple.
Image
On the second shelf I have Combiner Wars Starscream and Titans Return Soundwave, Ravage, Rumble and Laserbeak. I used to have all of these on the top shelf with Megatron, but I like this set up better.
Image
Third shelf is for Predacons, I have Thrilling 30 Waspinator and Sky-Byte and Takara LG-17 Blackarachnia. Obviously I hope more are on the horizon.
Image
The bottom shelf is empty for now, I was thinking about filling it with Titans Return Overlord, either a couple of Deluxes or Voyagers I don't have yet (I was thinking POTP Dreadwind and Darkwing) and the Decepticon Prime Masters.
I put my Combiners on the very top of the cabinets, so far I have Combiner Wars Devastator and Bruticus and Unite Warriors Lynxmaster (with Sunstreaker and Mirage as legs). I plan to get two more Combiners for this display, I was thinking Unite Warriors Megatronia and the POTP Dinobot Combiner we may or may not be getting. Though it sucks that Kapow Toys recently put the price of Megatronia up. *sigh*

I like your style ;)

The detolfs look good side by side. The way I've got my room confirgured, they're all stand alone at the moment. Might hafta change that :-?

Thanks! I mostly went with Detolfs because of how cheap they are compared to other Ikea cabinets. I like the Liatorp cabinet a lot more, but it costs £225 more than a Detolf. For the price of one Liatorp I could buy five Detolfs and still have some money left over for a Titans Return Deluxe toy!

I hear that. I wish they were bigger, but they're the cheapest (closed) display case I could find. And I want them closed so I don't have to dust them every 2 days

It's been a while since I last updated this thread, mostly because I haven't been collecting all that much over the last three months, but I've added a couple of new things to my display now, mainly Combiner Wars Cylonus and Titans Return Overlord for the bottom Decepticon shelf:
Image
My plan right now is to get Power of the Primes Dreadwind and Darkwing once they're out, and maybe track down a couple of Combiner Wars Stunticons so I can have a fully formed Galvatronus. I'll wait to see what Power of the Primes gives us in terms of Decepticon Combiner limbs.

Something else I've been doing is adding human characters to my display:
Image
The British departent store Wilkinsons do this range of cheap Lego knock-offs called "BLOX", and part of the range is these little five-packs of mini-figures. I noticed that some of the construction worker figures look kind of like Sunbow cartoon Spike Witwicky if you stretched your imagination, and the more I looked into it, the more I realised there were quite a few figures that could pass as G1 human characters. They're not the best quality, a lot of them are covered in production scars and the faces are awkwardly painted on, but they scale well with Deluxe Transformers and look pretty nice in a display. So far I have Spike, Carly (yeah, Carly is totally a paramedic in my headcanon now) and Sparkplug. There's another set with a doctor figure who looks an awful lot like G.B. Blackrock, and I may also buy some of the BLOX military sets and pretend they're N.E.S.T.
