Transformers Studio Series Hightower

Money talks, bullshit walks. Hightower was on stupid sale and I felt that Scrapmetal needed a friend or was it Dio from the BeastBox line?

Image

Well that looks nice an normal, surely It will just turn in to a bipedal roboooooo........

Image

....what the **** is that thing?

I kid, I kid, not really, he's fugly. Hightower is a weird robot t-rex but not in a cool Grimlock way, but more in "The Fly, kill me" kinda way. Something went bad bad not right with this guy.

In the pic above, he is very mistransformed and should look like this.

Image

As you can see I was aiming for this.

Image

What's the difference you ask? Not much really. I just popped off his crane arm and stuck it in backwards. I found the crane part to be in the way and not look so good hovering over his head. Makes sense in a he has no useful arms up front, but it's not like I'm ever going have him eating a sammich. I feel like the crane sticking off the back balances the figure and gives him a bit of a tail like a proper t-rex should.

My desk is a mess from travel, but I'd like to pair him with Dio real soon. I'm also interested in what kind of science experiments gone wrong I can come up with Hightower and Scrapmetal combined. We'll see :-?

He is ridiculously fugly and fun, I love him! the non-humanoid Constructicons have truly been a blast.

Can't wait to see what kind of crazy combos you can come up with, you madman

The back of the head kind of looks like having another face. The anti-vacuum slot being the mouth, the little whole above mimicking a nose and the pits at the right and left of it look like eye sockets. Just paint the latter and you got a working face.

Transformers Studio Series SS-46 Dropkick

Wanna know who is a cool transforming figure? Car Dropkick! Why did I wait so long to get this guy... :-? oh yeah :ic$:

This guy has great bot mode presence and a kickass alt-mode. Some people say his transformation is complex for a deluxe, but forget that noise, his transformation is just plain complex. There are so many swinging parts in the torso it takes a while just to wrap your head around. Once it click, it's fairly intuitive. My only complaint is getting them damn doors to peg in, but there's a trick to that as well. This dude does some neat **** to make an outstanding robot. He's got some awesome hood chesticles and some rocking door wings, and if you know me, those are a few of my favorite things! One other thing that I want to point out is how the rear tire well becomes his calf - just brills!

Dropkick follows the trend of having his hand fold away and the weapon clipping on. His looks pretty integrated. Vehicle mode weapon storage is the same old same old - in a drawer

Anyways, check this handsome human popping Decepticon out!

Just started thinking about this, you need a T30 Brainstorm, Skids, and CW Magnus with this photo too

Wow. That's a lot of bot updates. Very nice. How many of the RotF Constructicons do you have now? And Dropkick, very nice.

Just two out of the eight Constructicons. I have no concrete intention to finish or not finish Devy. Will be whim and price dependent.

Dropkick is a really cool Transformer and I can't recommend him enough. The design details and especially the head is not the typical movieverse freak show so it's easy to ignore it's a movie bot.

Brekkies on Lombard barely a block from our motel.

Image

Getting vital supplies at The Apothecarium.

Image
Looks like he already has his swerve on

Fun at the Beach Chalet they said... just a sample they said...

Image

Those are 4oz pours if anyone wants to do the math. It was a sample of all their beers, so I was expecting five tops, then they came out with all these beers. I seriously assumed it was two samples and one was for someone else. To be fair, it's barely over two pints.

The ironic part is that we were eating before heading to the Academy of Sciences after dark craft beer fest thing. BTW, museums with adults only and booze are the best museums. No pics of Swerve unfortunately.

Went back to the Golden Gate Park the next morning to hit the early bird free admission to the Japanese Tea Garden.

Too macha?

Image
Image
Image

Hey look some primer painted bridge. Wonder if there's anything special about it? :-?

Image

I just can't quite put a finger on it, better get a closer look from the San Francisco side of the bay before heading to wine country.

Image

On our way to Sonoma we took a detour to Muir Beach.

Image
Image
got some low key BotW feels here

Checked out some redwoods at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.

Image

I got some serious RotJ speeder bike vibes in the woods, but none of the pics I took do it justice.

After that was just a bunch of wine tasting and poor Swerve was forgotten about. :(

Whelp I've added more to the Soundwave shrine. Transformers Siege Rumble and Ratbat.

They are very cool and better than expected. They would benefit from just a tad bit more articulation, but what can you do?

Image
RIRFIB, haters going hate 8-)

"Cassette" mode is passable.

Image

Shield get punched in the face mode is hilarious.

Image

Speaking of, peekaboo!

Image
Image

Found a good use of some spare blast effects to make Rumble do what he does best.

Image

You know what he says ... "First we crack the shell, then we crack the nuts inside."

Image

Rumble and Ratbat are a cool set and look good with Soundwave.

Image

I was hoping to store Rumble in Soundwave's chest, but I feel that Ravage makes a better chest filler. His deco just compliments SW so well.

Image

Oh well, guess I'll have a lone Siege Rumble in the shrine until Frenzy shows up. I'm going to continue to display Siegewave with the TR Frumbles because I feel they scale better. Doesn't hurt that they also look good.

Image

So is Frenzy just an exclusive set figure now? Also - GIMME A SIEGE BUZZSAW DAMMIT! :BANG_HEAD:

Very nice! I like ratbat, and I actually did the execution on Rumble. I pre-ordered the set 3, so I am ready to complete the original major cast. But I will gladly take more!
