At da swap meet...

I happened upon a flea market on my way to a comics shop, and found the following:
Leo Breaker $26 (no tail or key)
Seawing $20 (missing accessories)
Optimal Optimus $18 (no gun/missiles or breakaway armor pieces)

Then the comic store had:
Protectobot Groove (Deluxe) $20
Fruiticus $110
Computron $110
MTME Vol. 5, 7, 8, 10 (still on Vol3!)

I ended up only getting Optimal Optimus, Wham - Make it Big! ($5, vinyl), and the Transformers 2017 Annual. ;)

Kooooool!

California swap meets are the dope. So is that figure.

I hate to be the guy, but he is missing a few other parts too. There are these six panel/flaps that form different things in different modes.

On his forearms in Munkky mode.

All that being said. I've lost 2 of the 6 over the years and I don't even care because...
THAT FIG IS THE DOPE! :KREMZEEK:

Nah, it's all good Cobo! I probably edited my post while you were typing a response -- either way, I appreciate the call-out, cuz who doesn't want to know what may be missing??

I've had s'more time to play around with Primal, so expect pics soon! :MAXIMAL:

The play-value of Optimal Optimus can't be denied.

I'm one of those fans that missed out on Beast Wars -- with Primal set to receive the Matrix of Leadership as part of the Power of the Primes coming up (as well as him and Cheetor getting MPs), here's hoping for more beastformers, old & new.

I talked to my younger brother about Beast Wars, and he said that when this toy first came out, people seemed to think he was an eyesore.

Then he told me Beast Wars was his favorite -- it made me really want to see the series!

We then talked about the Unicron Trilogy (I had no idea!) -- I definitely missed out on this era of TF.

I never saw Optimal Optimus in stores at his original '98 release (was in college lol), but he really is a solid, fun toy to tinker with.

I know that feel, I missed pretty much everything after G1 to Prime. I remember seeing beast something in the stores and just not liking the shiny metal muscles, then later seeing the animated figures and liking the look of them but not having the funds. Somehow I never even saw the CHUG stuff on shelves/pegs. WfC got me thinking TF again, but was ignorant to the figures until I saw WfC Bee on Amazon. That figure and Prime got me in to the collecting game. Otherwise known as the TF perfect storm

Anyways, looks like your having a blast with Optimal. Which line/series is he from again? He looks very robotic, is he from when that ditched their fleshy bits?

Hoooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Optimal Optimus!!!! He's easily one of my top transformers ever. Maybe I'll go back to that avatar..

$18 was less than I paid for him when I bought him new back in the late '90s!! Great find!

Cary -- there's a certain part in Beast Wars that Primal and Prime's sparks merge, and Optimal is the result! My brother told me as soon as this happened, Optimal went and single-handedly kicked Con tail, with lotsa guns blazin! It's not until the subsequent Beast Machines series they go back to Cybertron and ultimately try and balance their techno/organics....but when they ditch those forms or what happened to Rhinox & co? No idea. ;p

My brother had a bunch of Beast Wars figures (his era, after all, which also included Headmasters -- which were basically new characters to me having only seen the G1 toys), and I remember Cheetor lookin pretty cool (with metallic parts complementing the plastics), but not lovin the line as a whole (since I didn't watch the show).

I completely missed out on WfC as well, but recently picked up the games for PS3. I love seeing our bots in Cybertronian forms, and can imagine if I had seen these at the time of their release, I'd have jumped back in then. I loved DEVASTATION on PS4 though! #geewunnerlol

It was Combiner Wars that finally brought me back - Devastator, really. It was like they finally did the guy justice and I had to have him.

Itscramtastic -- LOVE LOVE LOVE those outdoors shots with Optimal! These look perfect, and yeah, camouflage certainly was not the driver for his transmetal coloring!

You'll have to watch the show to find out!

IMO, Beast Wars and Beast Machines are the single best TF television fiction ever produced. They were co-written by D.C. Fontana. One of the writers of the original Star Trek.

Worth I try I say. ;)^

About what happened to Rhinox, maybe this is one of those times where ignorance is bliss? But then again you arent attached to the character so we'll see. Let us know how you feel when you get to beast machines, it was a very divisive show.

Also, awesome shots of devastator, allow me to suggest something. You see that cockpit for Scrapper with the decepticon symbol? Try flipping that piece upside down, you wil see it locks in the knee so to add stability.

Great suggestion, thanks Will!

Devastator does scale the way I want, but it's true the range of movement is lackluster in all the individual figures. But still great fun.

Like Primal. ;)

Love that Twilight comment!

Have ou tried the other modes yet? Believe it or not, his main alt mode on the show when he had this body was not the gorilla. It was the plane, and while it doesnt look like much it has a really wide wingspan.

Also, Bodrock, did you ever hear of the titanium Optimal Optimus toy? Its a smaller version of this beast wars toy all in die cast. And its missing one of the modes: the gorila mode. Thats right, the one mode it didnt give on a beast wars toy was the beast mode.

I still have the pdf on my phone to reference for the transformation, Will! I keep monkeying around with the gorilla form. But wow, I can't believe that wasn't his primary mode, and he preferred flight - I never would have guessed.

I've seen the little Titanium Optimal, but had no idea they didn't include the actual beast mode! I wonder what they were thinking exactly with its exclusion....
