Wow, can’t wait to see it, there are so depressingly few non-cringe-inducing  art pieces of her

This is a commission I did for SoundBluster on Deviantart. This is their design they wanted me to draw of Shattered Glass Airachnid. This character is part of a Prime SG fan comic that they're doing. :) Hope y'all like my take on her! See more of my stuff on my Deviantart! :D

Well well, it's been a while. Here's some progress shots of a couple of TF models I'm working on in Blender. I don't know if I'll finish Bee, but Nemesis Prime is going super well so far.

Oh very nice! I've used blender before so I know it's not easy to get these results :)

Thanks! :D Blender is amazing when you know how to use it, heh

Hoping to rig Nemesis Prime after I'm done and do some FULL renders posed.

Edit: Damn, haven't used Seibs in so long I forgot I can't like posts. Whoops.

Really awesome thread, and I was totally blown away by the blender bots! That is some next-level talent, and I can't wait to see the finished Nemmy P

Thank you! :D At this point I've switched mostly to concept sketches and Blender models rather than digital drawings for TF. I think it fits my creative interests better, so that's the stuff I'll most likely post from now on. :)

Also note to everyone here, I do Transformers models mostly for fun (though I may use them for something, I don't know yet), but I mainly do game development for horror games now, mainly graphics and models, so I can't do TF artwork/models as much as I used to now because of that. TF models are super fun to make though. A lot more simple to design without much sculpting, and easy to rig due to the separate pieces rather than a single body, so I'm able to kick these out faster than most other models, alternatively. So I guess it evens out a bit?

Mostly doing this model for fun. Idunno if I'd have the time to model many more for like a comic or something. Nemesis seems like he's nearly done though.

REALLY.
STINKIN'.
AWESOME!
SIL.

:APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE:

Love the liberties you've taken with that Nemy P. The shoulder shapes are super cool, and lots of nice details.
I'm guessing he's a character model and doesn't actually transform, right? Think you'd ever tackle an actual transforming model?

How is rigging in Blender? I always hear how much of a pain Blender is in general, but have never tried it. I do a lot of modeling at work with Cinema4D, but I'm lucky to work with a friend who is much more knowledgeable in all other aspects of that software. We usually end up muddling through rigging stuff together.

Have you seen the new Grease Pencil functions in Blender? This looks amazing!! Makes me think I need to give Blender a try.

EDIT: AND... a new post since I started typing this. THOSE LEGS LOOK RADD DUDE!

Yer killing it Sil!!

Thanks tons Cobo! :D

Rigging robots is generally much easier than rigging human models and stuff because you can apply bones to individual parts, since there's no bending involved to any mesh parts, and all the limb parts are separate pieces. I rigged the antagonist for my current game project pretty easily because of him being a dummy doll thing, whereas characters with like clothing and stuff, while simple for me to model, are HELL to rig.

Sadly Nemmy doesn't transform, but I've been considering making a separate vehicle mode model for him with some of the same parts, and maybe even an in-between transformation model with parts rigged to fake a transformation. Basically switch the model between each, and then animate the in-between model to move as if it's transforming to alt mode or back. I suspect that might be similar to what they did with Transformers Prime models since a lot of parts sort of disappeared in either form, though I'm not certain. It's definitely a good cheat to do if you wanna make them transform but don't wanna put yourself through hell and back designing them, haha. It would be crude and it would have to happen very fast to look like it's not separate models, but it can be done, especially for a comic.

I'm so busy is the issue, so while I would LOVE to do a full on Transformers fan comic with 3D models, right now I don't have the time or energy to. If I were to it would be after a good while of building up models through practice like I'm doing with Nemmy. I do have a super cool story concept that I think would be legit really interesting to see, so if I ever got the chance I probably would. I imagine Nemesis Prime would be one of the most complex models design-wise since he's meant to be big and scary, and I would want the Autobots to be a little less partsy I suppose.

I know exactly what you mean by the cheat you described. We do all our 2D character animation in After Effects. When we can't get the results we need, we usually end up drawing an in-between pose, and puppeting our models from start to middle to end pose. Same thing you said, just with 2D instead of 3. And that's because After Effects isn't REALLY meant for character animation. But it's what we know how to use, and we make it work.

Great work, Sil! Can't wait to see more. ;)^

I know what you mean, lol, I'm currently making a first person point and click horror game within RPG Maker using Blender graphics (it's Inanimate, the game image in my sig). RPG Maker's supposed to be for JRPGs but this is definitely no JRPG. I'm making it work simply because it's the only engine I currently know how to use, though I hope to switch over to proper free-roam gameplay within Unreal 4 or Blender Eevee at some point. Not sure which yet. I'd love to make some Layers of Fear or Resident Evil 7 style gameplay. :-P

Thanks! Glad you like it! :D I'll keep posting updates then, lol

Those are looking really good. I've heard of people using RPG Maker for games other then old skool jrpgs, including 2D platformers  there's more choice in game engines now than there used to be. I used to favour Microsoft's XNA game studio, pity they killed it.

Your game sounds neat though, good luck with it!

I think the model itself is pretty much done, maybe besides recoloring a part or two.
