Is Bill and Ted still a viable property?

I just read that a Bill and Ted 3 is being written right now by the guys who created the characters and wrote the first two movies. I used to be a huge Bill and Ted fan back in the day, but I don't know if it's really an enduring property. I know that a lot of 80s/90s things are making comebacks now (this site is proof enough) but would a Bill and Ted 3 really be a successful venture? It's been almost 20 years since we've seen anything about these guys (maybe ignoring the comics or games, can't remember when they were released). Alex Winter is on board, and Keanu Reeves is takling, I think. I'm not good at dividing rumor from fact, but I believe this is comign together.

Anyway, after 20 years, are has-been 80s rock wanna-bes/rockstars really an entertaining thing? Especially with George Carlin gone, is this a smart move? It's got Keanu Reeves star power, but I don't really know if it's got much else going for it.

I think it all depends on script. We know Keanu can act and has the star power. Alex Winter, whatever. And yeah, Carlin is gone. If the movie is made, hopefully they pay at least a tribute to him. The first film was a lot of fun, I can't remember the second one very well. Like I said, it all depends on substance. Where will the two dimwits go in their phone booth this time? The future? The 20th century? Who knows. What I do know is that if it looks somewhat interesting, I will go see it.

I have nothing against either of the first two movies, but a third movie would be a waste of time. It might be viable, but I can't see it being very interesting. Also, Carlin being gone just makes it worthless to me at this point.

Well, at the end of the second movie they introduced their kids.. It could be about their kids this time.

But my opinion is to leave well enough alone.

It couldn't possibly be worse than "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" could it?

Screw it. If they put it out there, I'll go see it.

If you wanna watch "Bill and Ted 3" watch "Anvil! The Story of Anvil". Its a documentary movie that for me, rings of the "real" Bill and Ted.

Please don't dredge up threads that have been dead for five years.

Hate to fight the power on this, especially when that power is Burn :-D but if someone wants to discuss something, and finds a thread on that very thing, I see a valid reason to necrobump. We tell people not to create threads when they're already created, but then we turn around and tell peope not to dredge up old threads when they have a valid reason to do so. If dude wants to discuss Bill and Ted 3 for good reasons, then why create a new thread when there's already an old one hanging around with some context in it?

I understand banning necrobumping or creating dual threads when there's no reason, but this is a damned-if-we-do-damned-if-we-don't situation. Dude wants to discuss Bill and Ted 3. Let's discuss Bill and Ted 3 in the thread that's already created.

Just my two cents.

Not trying to cause any upset here.

And I apologise for not knowing the correct netiquette in this case.

Anyway I did some further poking around since I found that mention of a possible title dated 2012 and found there was some articles dates 2015 that mention it still so perhaps it might be happening after all.

By the way has anyone noticed how Alex Winter looks a bit like Aaron Archer these days ?
