MOTU & Beast Wars Pre-Cartoon: Would Anyone Be Interested In Exploring Forgotten Continuities?
Posted: Tue Sep 21, 2021 10:29 amSo, I'm not exactly a fan of He-Man or the MOTU, but with the premiere of the Revelations and the new CGI kids series, I got curious and began to investigage, and found just how different the original continuity in the pack-in minicomics, before the Filmation cartoon, was: a post-apocalyptic setting littered with technology from a more advanced civilization, He-Man as a Conan-esque figure with no secret identity and powers derived from enchanted armors, Teela and the Sorceress the Goddess as two parts of the same being, Skeletor travelling from another dimension to Eternia, the Power Sword being the key to Castle Grayskull split in two halves...
And that, in turn, got me thinking of something that I do like which was also completely different from the original, less well-known continuity: Beast Wars, which was apparently first written as the original Autobots and Decepticons upgraded into the new factions and still fighting in present-day Earth.
So, I've been wondering: wouldn't it be cool to have a comic miniseries or a cartoon exploring these forgotten continuities? How would they change and expand on the story? Would anyone else be interested in exploring them, or am I alone in this?
