So I picked 00 Quantro up several weeks ago, and I picked up this badass Dai Atlas styled guy that really needs a better name than is on the box, I hope? What can you guys tell me about them, which show they came from, were they good suits, etc?

The 00 Qan[T] is a Gundam from Gundam 00, specifically the movie finale Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer. No idea about the other one.

Astray blue frame! Wow they really went to town on that design  yeah that's blue frame from the gundam seed side story astray. Normally you see more of Red Frame around.

His box is as big as Barbatos Lupos and 00Quantro combined, he is going to be a long ass build once I get to him, but he looks to be so worth it.

I did always like the astray mechs, there's a good amount of variants as well, I need to see which ones are in the hg scale.

Quant has been in my possession for over a month now, and he was not built since I got my job not longer after I got him and I was very busy with my previous job then, so he will get his turn in buying order.

the other guy, geez, he may be a weekend day project

Lol how is barbartos coming along then? I build mine in stages, doing like an arm or a leg a day. Especially since the only I get to myself are when the kids are at school or asleep. Even then I have to balance my time

I built him in one fell swoop. Took 4 or 5 hours, but I did it, and it was fun, and he has a stand now and he's posing!

Thanks! It was painted for me by a friend!

And now that you say that, I may need to try rotating Barbatos. I also think tomorrow I will be finding a Goodwill and buying another cheap shelf. If I have enough room for all my stuff at the moment, it will be only barely enough, and I still have more Gundam to build and set up, including that giant ass one

Trust me, you'll want to keep it in the box not assembled. This model is in dire need of a 2.0 due to weight distribution issues it incurs once you add the pack on. it's a prime example of what happens when you skip QC because you want to make a release to coincide with its featured movie.

It also cannot hold it's GN sword.

Couldn't you just use a stand, or tighten up the joints?

See I hadn't heard much about the quant but then again it's not the first time that a product suffers in the rush to get it released.

I'm sure some of those issues can be fixed with a bit of effort, couldn't they?

I'll be picking up the Master Grade Exia Ignition Mode soon. Anything I should know beforehand?

General heads up to anyone wanting to do chrome parts on their models- Don't bother with Alclad, it's caustic, it's a pain to use and it's really fragile. What you want is Molotow Liquid Chrome. Get a few markers for small details and a refill tube for airbrushing (and, uh, refilling markers). With just a tiny bit of Mr. Thinner it goes through an airbrush at 15PSI and it is beautiful. Doesn't even need a gloss black coat underneath thanks to being opaque. And it doesn't flake off if you look at it wrong! Does take a while to cure but if you're doing airbrushing then that's kinda something you have to be willing to account for anyway. It technically doesn't need primer, but I'd still use it to protect the plastic, as IIRC some of Bandai's kits can react badly to lacquers if unprimed.

It's better than the Quan[t]. The model was designed to be very posable and it does not suffer from any weight distribution issues. My only issue with it is some of the smaller parts can fall off since it lacked some inner pieces that could have helped secure them. The GN Blades are also a pain in the butt to get into their waist mounts. But you will get your moneys worth out of it. Note it does not come with button batteries like the PG 00 Raiser did. You'll have to find those in stores, if you can.

That kit also gives the option of converting it to the Repair 1 from the start of season 2.

Good to know! However, now I can't decide if I should get the MG Exia as I said before, or the MG 00 Raiser instead. I can get each for the same price, and I will get the other eventually, but I'll have to wait until Christmas. So should I get the Exia Ignition or the 00 Raiser first? Leaning toward the latter because of all the stuff it can do, but I wanted other opinions.

In times like this I ask myself which look I prefer. If it were me I'd go for the 00 raiser for example. If you still can't make a decision, go to the old stanby; flip a coin. If the result makes you happy, go for it, if you hesitate, go for the alternative. I often have this dilemma as there is always more than one i would like
