They don't talk about that with outsiders.

Different Klingons that was TNG / Motion Picture like Klingons the new ones look like something from any of a dozen other Sci Fi Franchises like Star Wars, The last Star Fighter or Enemy Mine - but not a whole lot like Klingons - they don't even have much in the way of forehead ridges.
HOWEVER they might be some reasonable explanation and "Proper" Klingons might still exist.
If they are claiming it's Prime timeline then in their period they'd be in the 2nd generation recovery from the Augment virus.
It's quite a scary thought if they didn't pick more Human like Klingons on purpose in the hope they get killed off - and if they did prove themselves like Kor and the like then they get the right to have cosmetic surgery - but by the TNG era they may have had a cure anyway to explain the ridges on the TOS era ship commander in that time.
If they have very odd looking Klingons flying around in a giant space church and those are the default Klingons with no reasonable explanation then boy oh boy will the internet not like that.

It might be something like the Romulans and Remans from Star Trek Nemesis. An offshoot. That would be the easiest explanation.

They're obviously lifting elements of Into Darkness with the Klingons, which makes you wonder when & where Discovery is set

If you do an image search for unused into darkness Klingons - you can see that the differences were pretty cosmetic - I actually think they look like Star Trek VI era Klingons more or less.
The new ones well don't ; but speaking of Discovery :

Throwing this out there since I just jumped into the thread: The new series is really awesome. The 2009 movie was my first Star Trek and I loved it. And it keeps going good for me. Into Darkness, where the Enterprise falls to Earth, is my favorite part of the new movies.
Hopefully discovery takes off better and does better than it sounds at the moment

The CBS Trailer is better for the lack of the silly music - it is viewable via CBS-twitter page - otherwise it tends to get region blocked outside America.

The **** was that?
10 years before Kirk...Spock...THE ENTERPRISE? They're just going to disregard the actual show called ENTERPRISE?
And that's some fancy CGI ... bet it costs a lot! Yep, this isn't going to last, not because of bad ratings, but because it won't turn a profit.

They're not disregarding Enterprise. Discovery is supposed to be in the main timeline (not the alternate one of the new movies). Enterprise is set about 50-60 years before the original series.

Missed that whole "Ten Years before The Enterprise" did ya?
I get what they're saying "It's before TOS" ... but come on....

No idea why they do it, this stuff ends up all over YouTube within hours anyway, it's not like they're stopping it.
