Dead Metal wrote:But that's not all, now they announced that they're planing a movie with an all male cast, and that Akroyd is now in charge of a project thats' supposed to set up Ghostbusters as the next Avengers styled shared universe. This is just stupid.

What's next? An all black team? An all white team? An all Chinese team? An all gay team?

An all-male Ghostbusters team? It'll never work!

Ironhidensh wrote:It's all a bad idea. You can't remake Ghostbusters, and it doesn't matter what cast you use. GB only worked because of the original cast. Bill Murry, dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson, Harrold Ramis, Anne Potts, Rick Moranis, Signory Weaver, the dude with no dick. That group was special, and they made something special. The cartoon worked because it was a different beast altogether, but even it kept the same characters.

As someone who grew up with the team being composed of Lorenzo Music, Frank Welker, Mauriace LaMarche and Arsenio Hall, I have to disagree that there can be only one cast...

Different media. I too loved the cartoon, but even though it was the same universe, it was different. It also at least used the same characters. It wasn't a reboot.

Also. I'll amend my comments to say this cast might very well work, if it wasn't a reboot. I would still probably hate it (mainly because I'm old and stuck in my ways and don't really like new things anymore) but I might at least give it a chance. Eventually I'm sure I'll redbox this, but it will. Ever match up to the original.

I liked the explanation for the Real Ghostbusters having different costumes because their original ones from the Movie had got so much PK energy dumped in them they started walking around on their own.

An all female cast doesn't bother me.
The cast they chose is solid.
The idea, overall, is a bad one. Continue where the previous one left off, don't reboot it. Paul Feig could've had his cake and eat it too, while keeping the old skool fans happy as well.

For the sake of everyone involved, I hope it works out, I do, but I think it was absolutely unnecessary to reboot it. I think a sequel with Akroyd and crew passing the torch to the ladies would've been an excellent idea.

I think Sony is actually trying to sink themselves on purpose. Perhaps there's a fat insurance policy waiting in the wings.

You are not the 1st person to notice Sony Pictures seems hell bent on Commercial Suicide.

I have noticed some interesting observations about how the way they are owned means that they can allow certain things to be made under their banner to do with politics, religion or other clashing interests that many other studios/distributor would be to scared to try. But the only recent example of that seems to be the NFL Head injury Movie with Will Smith in it. ( I think that's Sony isn't it).

You are correct, it's a Columbia release.

I feel the future of this franchise died when Harold Ramis passed away. The all-female cast feels like a forced attempt to fit into the current SJW hype, but maybe it'll end up finding popularity among the Tumblr demographic. :-?

A third Ghostbusters movie could've been a lot of fun, but at this point I feel it's better to just let it rest. We got one fantastic movie, a decent one, and a fairly decent video game a couple of years ago. I guess it'll have to do.

Funny how calling someone a Tumblr user is now seemingly seen as even more insulting that mentioning someone uses 4Chan is.

Haha it's true! I use Tumblr myself because it caters to my nerdy interests, but the politics scare the hell out of me. It's literally about as intolerant of opposing views as your average white supremacist forum.

I've literally been told to check my "species privilege" by someone who identified as grasskin, and claimed she was "astrally raped" (i.e. telepathically) by several men, whom she even reported to the police. I wish I was joking. And there are entire communities of people like her.

Tumblr can be a very scary place. You must never venture there alone.

All the cameos reek of desperation to me. I think the producers realized how badly they've pissed off the fan base, and now are scrambling to save thier asses.

I only care about those cameos if they are playing the same characters. I can swallow this more as a continuation then a soulless reboot.

So this happened today......

It actually looks good, as much as I hate to admit it, and I really do, buuuuuut, I can admit when I'm wrong. It still might suck, and looks to copy the original heavily, but that isn't always a bad thing. I might be willing to give this a shot.

Looks like another Star Trek to me. I was hoping the trailer would get me excited to have a new Ghostbusters. I'm not excited. I was excited about Star Trek, and Star Trek Into Darkness. But then I saw them. I am excited about Star Trek Beyond, but that's because it looks like it's actually going to be its own movie. I was hoping the new Ghostbusters team would be taking up the mantle, not flat out copying the original. Maybe the next trailer will change my mind, but I have no hope for this film. [-(

Yeah, I think I'll just avoid this altogether, on the plus side it lessens my fill-to-bursting movie plate. I'd much rather see zootopia then this.

Now, I don't wanna get off on a rant here, but this new ghostbusters trailer really rubs me the wrong way. First of all, ghosts throwing up, the slime getting "IN EVERY CRACK," ectoplasm leaking from the nose, the power of penny commands you? look, one of the best thing about the two films is that much of the humor was subdued, slightly less so in the sequal but it was still restrained by this trailers standards.

Secondly, why not have the black character be a scientist and have one of the white characters be the streetwise one? I'm not trying to get racial here I just feel we've already had this dynamic, why not switch it up and try something new?

And speaking of the black character... yeah, racial stereotypes senses tingling. Look, movie winston is the quintessence of fifth wheel. His one standout was to make the biblical judgement day reference in the first one, and then there's "S#!T that will turn you white" line. In the last gen video game he has more meat, but since we're talking movies, yah. He was the token black character, but at least he was restrained in his token-ness.

I guess what I'm saying is that much of the humor was more cerebral in the prior films. The titanic showing up doesn't mean anything unless you know your history and know that New York was the titanic's destination, then the joke sinks in. This just seems like the Farelly bros were giving the direction. I like the Beetlejuice shout out, and it's always good to see slimer. I'm hoping this is a case of a bad trailer for a good movie, and as a fan I WILL see it. I'm just not expecting too much.

Not impressed. At all. Then, I was never a fan of the original movies either. I did like the cartoon when I was younger. I will most likely go see it, if there's nothing else out in theaters then. But to me it's just another movie, nothing special.

I'll see Ghostbusters. Won't have to pay a dime either.

Opening weekend, I'll just pop the Blu-Ray into my PS4 and enjoy a classic horror/comedy.

The best thing about this video is the number of dislikes.

I'm avoiding this film at all cost. That's my potential ticket money saved for Suicide Squad and/or Pete's Dragon.
