I cant speak for what's being said on larger social media platforms because I'm not on any. However my initial thoughts....

All the designs look pretty cool. Not many characters Im interested in, but I'm happy for others, and Ill save money. I've been all on board with the "izers" since the beginning, and the Rock types look good, so nobody can accuse me of not embracing new ideas. ;) .

Wouldn't that make Tidal Wave an awfully small Titan since the poster shows him connected to Armada Megatron?

Emerje
Well, if he's the Commander instead, then what's Magmatron? A measly Leader class?

JTPrime just confirmed titan Tidal Wave and Commander Magmatron

I really dont know what to make of this. Its kind of a no win situation. It still take the comments from JTPrime as rumor for now.

Tidal Wave -its great we are getting the Black/Purple from the animated series, always wanted one initially, but did not want to pay the import price or eBay upcharge 20+ years ago.

Something dosen't add up though. There's no way the designers would make a Tidal Wave that dosen't combine with Armada Megs. A Titan would be too big for the combination, while a CC would at least be feasible. Also YES I'd fully expected Magmatron (and an eventual BWII Galvatron) to be a Leader Class , as are most other villainous faction Leaders. I know Leader Class (along with others class) have shrunk in recent years, but Magmatron could still work in the upper end of what a leader class can be. I suppose a CC could work for Magmatron, but again, like Kingdom Rodimus Prime, it wouldn't be worth the $90 price point, no matter how well developed.

As for the Haslab... and the "Omega" level hint... Of course ,as my favorite character, Omega Supreme, another iteration (Like Animated), is a strong guess, also OMega Prime from RiD (but wont happen because of The inclusion of an Optimus)...

Didn't Cybertron Primus come with an Omega Lock? Getting a New Cybertron/Primus would definitely fit in with the theme of celebrating 40 years, plus giving us Unicron's Rival as well.

We said he's Commander class, not Leader class.

And, Magmatron was a BIG dude in Beast Wars Neo. Much taller than Big Convoy:

Which is why a Generations Big Convoy would be a Voyager just like most other Heroic Faction leaders in modern Generations.

I'm all about G1. It's what I collect for the most part. It was my childhood. But I gotta say.

It's about time some other eras get some love.

I'm sure G1 will have it's share of attention somewhere. But, really, other eras and characters deserve some love too.

Titan class Tidal Wave. It's one of the few characters that would get me to buy another Titan. I'm not even an Armada fan.

Looking at that Chase, especially the alt mode, I can see them doing Prime Cliffjumper out of it. I'd much rather have that than Lockdown from that mold.

Also, really not feeling that Windblade. Looks like Titans Return is still the best to date. And aside from the deco, I think the RID one looks better too.

Regarding the issu with Tidal wave, he will have parts that combine with Megatron/Galvatron, but it wont be the entirety. So you get the best of both worlds.

This wave is simply AMAZING.
And mostly because we are finally getting out of the G1 shackles! :michaelbay:

The best for me are the "Rocklords". Vehicles made out of rocks? That's PRIMAL!

That Windblade have a nice bot mode, but her jet is more blocky than Jhiaxus. Weird.

Tigerhawk is ugly as sin. I'm not sure I'll be getting it. But that Thundertron? GLORIOUS! Waaaaayyyyyy better than the original.

Even though he's not my cup of tea, I say YES to modernised Rescue Bots. I'm sure there's some young adults out there who's first Transformers ever was Rescue Bots.

TITAN TIDALWAVE! :michaelbay:
That's what I really wanted!

And finally, Commander Magmatron. I'm sure it will nuke the original out of the water. The OG was fiddly and not fun at all to transform. Plus it could barely pose. So I'm confident he'll turn out great.

The poster shows Armada Megatron combined with Tidal Wave.

What? No he doesn't, he looks like himself. Like his cartoon model.

People speculated about that when the ark first came out. Look at the Titan Arc. Both of them have cannons right on the upper chest (the Arc's are definitely smaller but same placement). They both have a rectangle in the middle of the chest. I know that is common for a Transfomer, but those two things together, plus Titan.

I think it would be better if Tidalwave is a brand new mold, with the three different vehicles that combine. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a retooling of the Arc.

There hasn't been a mass-retail mainline Titan retooled from another since Fort Max was retooled from Metroplex, and that was a different Hasbro team, too. Every mass-retail mainline Titan to come since Fort Max has been an all new mold:
  • 2017: Trypticon
  • 2018: Predaking
  • 2019: Omega Supreme
  • 2020: Scorponok
  • 2021: Ark
  • 2022: Cybertron Metroplex
  • 2023: Nemesis
The only reused Titan molds have either been convention exclusives (SDCC Metroplex, SDCC Devastator, SDCC Fort Max), Selects releases (Black Zarak, Guardian Robot), or TakaraTomy initiatives (Legends Metroplex, Legends Fort Max, Legends Grand Max).

Have a little faith in the next mass-retail mainline Titan continuing the trend of its predecessors.

I had to skedaddle to work right after the TF segment ended so I didn't have time to post my thoughts, but my reaction seems to have been shared by many others here that this is a tremendously exciting first wave! I won't go into specifics about every figure, but I will say Tasmanian Snarl and Tigerhawk are standouts for me. What was most exciting to learn, however is that we will be getting an ACTUAL MAGMATRON!!

We really are in an era where nothing is off the table. The big 40th is looking pretty phenomenal. :APPLAUSE:

Realized I forgot to put my actual thoughts and only talked about the Lockdown-Chase thing.
Definite Get: Tigerhawk, Windblade, Chase, & Tasmania Kid (all these look great, nothing really else to add), Tidal Wave (got so used to the expectation that I would be disappointed by him being Commander Class that I'm still in shock he's actually gonna be Titan like I wanted all along), Magmatron (oh I read that one comic series he was in, he's great, gimmie)
Maybe: Magneous & Bouldercrash (interesting concept that is not what I was expecting from the listings literally just saying Rock, undecided on what to do about them, think I like Bouldercrash better of the two though), Thundertron (he looks great, but I may try to hold out to hear more about the Leader one? Uncertain)
Not for me: Animated Optimus & Bee (both look great, just not the incarnations of those characters I would want as my definitive), Energon Megatron (I don't need a Core one, I need a Leader)

Razorbeast88 wrote:When is that star seeker line supposed to come out anyways? Wondering which Thundertron to get
Since the Star Seekers are the Walmart capsule, based off the example set by Velocitron and Toxitron we can probably expect an initial reveal & preorders in March/Spring (which would align with the "wait 6 months" tease the design team gave about the Chase retool) and actual release in July/Summer.

Wrong toy. That's the one we're getting, usually when someone says toy colors they're talking about the Hasbro Armada version:

Of course there's also always option three.

I'm guessing the goal for making a Titan Tidal Wave in the first place is to make him Cybertron Metroplex's rival.

Oh, hell yeah, this will make Cybertron metroplex even better!

Still, I can bet my left and right nuts that Titan Tidalwave will not come with his minicon. So, I'm looking forward a future wave where deluxe (or core?) Drillbit and Ramjet (TW's minicon.) would finally be a reality.

They made it sound like they were doing something really crazy with the retool which I think Lockdown qualifies more for in terms of how much they would have to change to pull it off. Cliffjumper would be a more rudimentary change, just a repaint with a new head. We know we're getting a Lockdown figure next year, but there's been no mention of a Prime Cliffjumper anywhere as of yet, maybe he'd be a good one for Selects or Buzzworthy since those are usually pretty simple.

Which is why a Generations Big Convoy would be a Voyager just like most other Heroic Faction leaders in modern Generations.

Big Convoy could be no less than Leader class, thanks to his bulk.

Motto: "Collecting little transforming action figures is the right of all sentient Geeks."
Weapon: Indepentently Targetable Particle Beam Cannons
Chase looks closer to Cliff than Lock.

It would require an extreme level of retooling to turn him into the tall and lanky Lockdown silhouette.

Lockdown doesn’t even have a roof/windshield chest. Its too far removed, and parts end up in the wrong places.

I just don’t see how they can make him Lockdown, without a massive re-engineering, at which point its likely easier to make him a new mold.

All that said, the toe lights and the claw accessory do kind of point in that direction. :-?
