Sounds like it was actually good. I know that the subject of torrents are a grey area but for some of us, it's the only way to see stuff. Got a friend d/l for me(tight arse mum won't upgrade to dsl). I know it's bad thing but by time the show is here in Australia the time it will be on I won't be able to watch it as it will interfere with my mothers soapies (Corronation St and Eastenders) and because TF:A is a cartoon I'll get crap about that.

So downloading off the net is good for some people.Unless you could convince my mother to get another cable box Im screwed. I'll end up buying some toys so the owners will make money off me anyway, therefore balancing everything out.

I thought we were staying away from the downloading part?

I really liked it. My wife thought Sari was cute, and spunky!

I truly do not think this is a continuation of G1. I don't think that HASBRO wants to go that route because they already had options when they imported MIcron Denetsu, Superlink, and Galaxy Force. Instead they chose to make them an alternate reality.

If it were a continuation and you were trying to justify names and characters, well, remember BW Megatron shared the same name as G1 Megatron, purposely. So could some of these not be another bot with the same name? Like this is Optimus J. Prime, as opposed to G1 who was Optimus T. Prime or something? You know like I'm Matthew and yet there are thousands of others with that name, and my last name too! So some of them may be the original like Ratchet, Magnus, Starscream, maybe Megatron so far, and others might just be taking the names because they see themselves as being that person-reborn or something? --I'm thinking of Sentinel Prime for sure, Optimus, and a few others. However, it's a pretty far stretch for that so I believe it would be alternate universe. Why would HASBRO change that now?

I really liked the G1 easter eggs in the show. Spike, Carly, and Daniel buying hot dogs was the best!

Starscream was very good--at being bad! As mentioned before, I like how the CONS seem to be very powerful, and these BOTS anyway, are very green and inexperienced.

I found Ratchet to be my favorite character so far. Prime is good, but his inexperience and lack of confidence bother me some.

Did anybody else catch that Sari said she had a plan (ala Armada, Energon, and Cybertron), and then Prime ignored her and wanted to go with his own plan! :APPLAUSE: The humans are not running the show. The robots with the huge memory and data processors actually made the fighting/tactical decisions!

Overall, I liked it, and will continue to watch it!!! I also suggest to others that they do too! Great surprises, great fun... a nicely updated, show with intelligent writing, and characterization.

Let me see, After watching Transformers Animated I was...

ABSOLUTLY IMPRESSED!!!!

This show can definetly be given the title "The Next Beast Wars"

The first episode was just so freakin amazing I was just so happy to see it ^_^ This show offically urinates on the English dub of the Unicron Trilogy ten fold!

It's great to see G1 characters like Blitzwing return again and with fresh looks and all. It is also wonderful to see a well acted, well written Transformers series since RID ended.

All I can say for this is, I loved it and I look forward to more episodes

My goodness this show sucked! I tried to like it... Honestly!

I thought it a slap in the face to use old G1 footage and then feed us the new crap designed animation. Despite the simplified looks of the characters I expected better animation. Was I ever let down there. It was choppy and not fluid. These are the guys that gave us "Teen Titans" and "Ben 10"! The animation in those two shows is far superior and now the feed us this schlock! Pffft!

Twenty minutes into the show I was ready to change the channel and watch "Ghost Hunters" of all things (and I really hate that show)! I was bored of my ––– watching this show. The human characterizations were lame... All of them especially the cop!

Most of the voice characterizations were mundane and "uninspiring". Optimus Primes voice failed to make me care for him. Ratchet and Blackarachnia's voice characterization was the only good ones that I thought were cool.

Alas, in my honest attempt to watch and like this show, it bored me to the point that I literally fell asleep 15 minutes before it ended! I'll give it one more shot but otherwise it gets a thumbs down from me.

Hasbro you've really EFFED-UP something special!
Spectacular Spider-man is a better written, better animated show and has a better theme song... Hands down!

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
So, let's sum up all the references so far:

- The old Autobot footage: This was taken from the G1 episode War Dawn.
- Megatron: His design appears mostly based on Movie Megatron.
- Prowl getting the front part of his plating destroyed: Seemed awfully similar to how Sunstreaker got messed up in the early Marvel comics.
- Prime's "death": Was a direct nod to his death in TFTM.
- Sentinel Prime: A nice touch to bring a comic-only character into a animated series.
- The Allspark: It looks like a mix between the old G1 Matrix and the movie allspark. The interior even looks like a mini Vector Sigma (only blue).
- Sari's key: They combined the Key to Vector Sigma with Buster's Matrix version during the early comic run. The entire "bring Transformers to life" concept was originally shown there when Shockwave/Buster used to the Matrix to bring various Autobots and Decepticons to life.
- Starscream: Starscream was mostly based on his old persona, only now he's more serious and actually dangerous.
- The Nemesis: It looks like a more spikey version of the old Nemesis. Other then that it's pretty similar.
- Ultra Magnus: His design is pretty similar to his original form, although his role different.
- Spike, Carly and Daniel can be seen in a cameo appearance early in the episode.
- Sparkplug: A obvious nod to the original G1 character.
- Megatron's damaged head 1: Seems similar to the damage Megatron received during the Marvel story "Gone But Not Forgotten!". It similarly revealed that Megatron has a large round eye underneath his face plating.
- Megatron's damaged head 2: The Decepticon warlord Straxus was also hooked up in similar way as Animated Megatron is now. Only Straxus coul still talk and interact with those around him.

Any other takers?

Well, in the early Marvel comics when Shockwave defeated the Autobots, he had beheaded Prime and was using his head similarly to try to find out what gave him the power to grant TFs life, and it looked very similar to what had happened to Megatron.

Stasis Pods-ala Beast wars.

Has promise...

Thoughts:

1. This is not G1, nor tie-able to G1. I don't recall seeing any Earth shots in the G1 "holo footage", the "mixed up" command structure (Ultra Magnus as top dog, etc.), humans having no knowledge of TFs at all, despite being set 50+ years "after" what would have been TFTAM...

2. I wonder what's gonna happen with Op's history. I'm starting to think the whole "Graduate of the Academy" thing is why he's a "Prime", but what caused him to be assigned to the remote space bridge repair team? (Overabundance of Heroism?)

2a: and why's Ratchet (Great War vet) on said team?

3. How are they going to explain away the "epic epic" fights you know are coming, when all the 'Cons take on all the 'Bots... considering the special established that the whole team of miners is "barely" able to take down Screamer without help from the Matrix/Allspark... I'd be disappointed if the whole series devolves into Sari & key are the "key" to every episode...

4. Hope they keep up the G1 / BW homages throughout the series, it'd suck to have one ep. loaded with them and the rest ignoring them...

5. Shockingly, Screamer sounds enough like the Screamer from G1 for me to be impressed. Though in a way I'm not liking the fact that his treachery was so successful in Ep 1... and where's his cowardness???

My views on Animated:

I went in this with an open mind as I have all previous TF series. These are my thoughts:

I have just finished watching Animated. Its okay but that is all, don't expect anything epic or truly exciting about it because it doesn't offer it, at least in this first 'movie length' episode.

The biggest flaw is the animation, particularly when it comes to the Humans and Earth in General. There is no doubt about it, the reason for this animation style is because its cheap. There is nothing artistic about it, just cheap. The human character designs are exceptionally bad and have a 'Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy' feel to them. Overall the episode was okay but fails to produce any sort of geek fan boy reaction.

XXX SPOILERS XXX

The plot starts off reasonably well but moving too fast for you to get a sense of the Universe this series takes place in. However after they reach Earth things begin to get boring real quick with their first confrontation with this nanotech monster thing which frankly lasted way too long. Although the Humans were not initially annoying, its very difficult to 'accept' the poor character and animation style, If you can't stomach the Transformer designs you will definitely not stomach the Human's. Only at the end with Starscream's involvement do thing pick up again but its nothing too fulfilling. Sari, the girl looks to be the new Kicker with her Allspark channeling power and although she has not reached Kicker's level of annoyance yet she looks to have the bad potential to do so.

This first episode very clearly sets what the tone of the series will be which is not so much about Autobots and Decepticons on Earth but mainly about a Super hero team saving the City of Detroit with the odd Decepticon showing up every now and then. It is made clear that they will be fulfilling a similar role to a robotic Justice League or something of the sort. Also the whole concept of 'Robots in Disguise' was ditched within the first 4 minutes of them acquiring Earth Alt modes as They were made Public Heroes with ceremonies and all very early on.

This premiere was a bit Mediocre and don't expect much from it based on the limitations that they have already imposed on themselves and since 2 Seasons have already been produced, it is very doubtful that the tone of the series will change since they never allowed for them to study fan reaction to the initial few episodes before working on the next.

Overall, I am neither disappointed nor excited. It is very unlikely that I will be collecting any toys from this series.

i'm guessing the autobots are at a bit of a loss since most of them aren't designed for hardcore combat like the cons' are. but then again this is the autobots i'm talking about, in prime's words: do you ever get the feeling you were programmed for something more than just repairing space bridges?

I noticed that too. I like how the show had many G1 references. I thought it was a decent mix of the 07 Movie and G1. SC was great. Best use of his character since the original. I don't care for the humans appearance.....

The show's premiere was terrific. You can't critize the maturity level of the dialog since cartoon network made this show for kids, however i found the dialog very reasonable, aside from Prime's cheesy lines about heroism, their duties and such. I enjoyed all the characters in particular prowl, who i thought was awesome, he's definitely a favorite of mine now. My only complaint is i want more and more autobots :D after reading the list on wikipedia on who's to be expected in future episodes, i got really excited about ultra magnus and jazz. My other complaint in the form of a question is how long till the toys come out.

& I personally loved every minute of it. It makes sense. As I said earlier, if you were an alien that had no clue about a planet you crashed on, how would you know what to hide from? Like they showed, the Autobots thought the robots were the superior life form, & had no clue the humans were the ruling class. Speaking of robots, with all the other man-made robots running around, the hiding from humans to keep them from freaking out thing is unnecessary for transformers....except from each other....as it should be.

BB: Nah, it's ok, I like my name.

Priceless, I love it. bring on 08. Seriously, CN has been going out the tube with incredibly lame shows these days. I miss the past shows like Dexter, cow and chicken, etc. And don't get me started on out of jimmy's head. lAMEO!!! Good thing they have something like animated to vring them back. Can't wait for jan 5th.

why are the toys coming out in summer? Child's of the 80's, tell me you didn't watch G1 without your soundwave, screamer, prime of megs, or any other characters. Trust me, it would be a good move to release them now, because all interest in the show will be lost in summer.

because Hasbro has been plauged lately with more demand than supply, & haven't been able to release the rest of the movie line yet, because they've been too busy filling orders for the first half of the movie line.

The show was like beastwars and g1 all rolled up into one tasty treat. Animation styling aside, this was the best toon since beast wars (so far) i laughed my ass off when i saw the spike, carly and daniel cameo (in thier post movie geek suits no less)

and he may have jay lenos chin, but zomg starscream other then looks was perfect. Blitswing? lets sing? idk bouthim just yet. and i loved ratchet, hes like kup and gears blended together.

i dont mind the animation style as much as others, although the autobots vehicles flexing and bending when there talking is a bit much.

i also liked how megs cannon used g1 megs cannon sound effects

all in all i give animated (SO FAR) a 10. show starts saturday morn jan 5 at 9 am central for me, gonna be recording it.

but if the show starts in jan, why do i gotta wait so long for the toys? i bet theyll be out sooner then what was listed
