I think that's always been the case hasn't it?

Yeah. It's why I don't take a blind bit of notice for all the next James Bond "predictions".
Although I thought Tennant reprising the role was never going to happen.

I think he's a good choice and am looking forward to his turn as The Doctor, I just hope he gets good, well written stories.

Sex Education is a fairly decent show and he does a great job as Eric. I can't wait to see what outfit they give him, hopefully lots of colour similar to Colin Baker (but will probably be even more flamboyant!)

Tennant and Tate return
They're "filming scenes", so doesn't sound like a full episode.

Maybe those scenes lead to The Doctor saving Donna from having to forget him which changes his future and he doesn't regenerate as the story went but regenerates later but not in Matt Smith but into Ncuti Gatwa thus erasing the Smith/Capaldi/Whittaker eras.

Won't happen. Most likely just a flashback or small 10/14 meeting.

Could just as easily be scenes for the 60th anniversary special. The Tenth Doctor could show up from the Series 4 part of his timeline.

The Sky Man

Big Finish currently has a sale extending across every day of May. One of the things I picked up in a recent sale was the first boxset of The War Master. I did try listening to a couple episodes of the sister series: The War Doctor. But great as John Hurt was. The War Doctor doesn't interest me as a concept or series.

Meanwhile, Sir Derek Jacobi as the War Master. Continues to be proven a masterstroke of casting. Yet a sad missed opportunity that he only existed onscreen for about five minutes.

Three episodes in, we come to The Sky Man. The line 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions', best sums up this episode. As the Master's companion (he does those here) basically learns the futility of trying to make a difference in the Time War. The ending especially really resonated with me. Considering my favourite villains in Doctor Who.
I haven't really been in the mood to listen/watch a lot of things lately. For example, I still have two and a half 9th Doctor boxsets to listen to in my backlog. Episodes like this will definitely get me in the right frame of mind to do so again. 9/10

Aged 93

Bernard Cribbins (1928-2022) I love this man. I love him. That’s him as Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. D’you fancy doing some Shakespeare, Bernard? “Let me see the script.” He knew everyone! He’d talk about the Beatles and David Niven, and how he once sat on the stairs at a party impersonating bird calls with T H White. Then he’d add, ‘I said to Ashley Banjo last week…’ He loved being in Doctor Who. He said, ‘Children are calling me grandad in the street!’ His first day was on location with Kylie Minogue, but all eyes, even Kylie’s, were on Bernard. He’d turned up with a suitcase full of props, just in case, including a rubber chicken. And what an actor. Oh, really though, what a wonderful actor. We once took him to the TV Choice Awards and sent him up on his own to collect the award, and the entire room stood up and cheered him. That’s a lovely memory. He’d phone up and say, ‘I’ve got an idea! What if I attack a Dalek with a paintball gun?!’ Okay, Bernard, in it went! He loved Gill with all his heart; he mentioned her in every conversation we ever had. A love story for the ages. I’m so lucky to have known him. Thanks for everything, my old soldier. A legend has left the world. - Russell T Davies

Even though I grew up watching The Wombles, I really only knew him from his time as Wilfred in DW.

And without a doubt, Wilfred is one of the best ever characters. Bernard Cribbins OWNED that role, he was given amazing material to work with and had some of the best actors across from him to work with and he made so many love his character.

The 60th anniversary is going to be that little bit harder to watch knowing that it'll be the last time we get to see Wilfred.

Tonight, when it gets dark, and the stars come out ... look up at the sky and think of him.

I can't help wondering if that's why they filmed Tennant's 60th anniversary scenes so early, if they knew about Cribbins' failing health and wanted to get Wilf's scenes filmed before it was too late.

Also a minor spoiler has arisen in the wake of this...

The new "Rose" paid tribute, calling him the best Grandad ever. More or less confirming the speculation she is Donna's daughter.

Not necessarily. BC himself told a story of how many kids would often see him in the street and call him Grandpa. May be a similar case. (Even though it's pretty much a given who she's a kid of)

True. I was thinking if this was the reason Donna specifically was chosen for the 60th anniversary companion to 10th Doctor.

The special debuts October 23rd

Runtime: 90 minutes

Just to sum up. In an hour and a half, just from the trailer, we have:

1.Cybermen (and Ashad)
2.Daleks
3.Two returning companions & UNIT
4.The Master
5.A regeneration story

I'm not very hopeful that 13 will go out on a high...

Looks like more of Chibnall's "throw everything into a blender" approach to writing.

I'm so glad he's on his way out.

It's sad that one Doctor's run has been blighted from start to finish with consistently bad writing and characterisation. Even the 13th episodes I have liked, I've still had issues with them.

100% agree with this. I wanted Jodie to be a fantastic Doctor, and the potential was definitely there, but the crap she was given to work with has really over shadowed her potential to the point that some of the episodes are bloody hard to watch.

They pulled in a number of unannounced guest stars to play the nostalgia card. For a Chibnall story it wasn't half bad.
