Only if you REALLY like him, like Thew:

The G1 original:

The Siege:

I don't really care for the character, but everyone seems to really like the figure. Just looking for a solid helicopter and motorcycle [86 Wreck-Gar?] bot.

The question is, do you want the Helicopter or Motorbike toy for its own merit, SCALE AND UNIVERSE BE DAMNED?

Your answer will decide what I will suggest.

Why not both that and a G1 themed option? :saint:

What do you mean by "G1 themed"? Because the old Generations are "G1 themed,", despite the bigger bots that disregard scale and with loose interpretations on altmodes. Heck, even Alternator was heavily "G1 themed".

If you want "mini masterpieces" you gotta stick with WFC and Legacy.

So, which is it?

Your options are very, VERY limited.
Copter: Spinister and his Select repaint.

Bike: NOTHING. Because even the Legacy Junkions aren't from G1. They are original characters.

Now, if you disregard G1 and want GOOD copters and bike, no matter the universe or scale, here's my best of the best, favorites ever (and affordable even today.):

Bike: Animated deluxe Oilslick.

Copter: DOTM voyager Skyhammer

Thanks as always! I'll have to think on those options.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider "the best" recent Optimus Prime?

I have Earthrise, SS BB 38, and the Target Exclusive Buzzworthy one.

Huh, didn't see that coming... How tall is he in the combined mode and what's your second choice?

Just watch the video. Emgo always does size comparisons.

As for the second choice, the Lazer Optimus mold is perfect. I don't have Lazer Prime himself, but I do have "Lazer" Scourge and G2 Toxitron. I had fun customising them with various upgrade parts.

Regardless, Commander Armada Prime is LEAGUES above everyone else. The only thing that would make him truly perfect is if Hasbro would release the missing minicons as Core Class transformers.

Oh boy... I need to stop asking for advice: Now I want Armada Prime! ...and I haven't a clue where to put him.

I never got into the Armada show, but that is a solid looking figure... so I may have to find a place for it.

I'm actually building a wooden stand to raise my Ikea Detwolf display case up over top a register vent, with another next to it [the vent was preventing me from getting a second display case] which will hold the recently purchased Sky Lynx [great recommendation btw!] and Black Zarak [Wife's hold him hostage for under the Christmas tree].

Anyway, thanks as always! :D

Did the PM go through?

I also just got DK-33... Geez, that's a big box! And DK-01 [ShowZ actually had it in stock!]. I also just received SS BB Arcee. I need to set aside some time to play with the latter two. Can't do anything with the former whole he's a hostage.

Yup, the PM went smoothly.

As for DK-33, normal that the thing is huge. That's basically 3 sets of upgrade kits in a single box. For a Titan.
But conveniently ignore the legs extenders. Those are a pain to install and they are ultimately pointless if you don't have the TR Fortmax or the Takara Legends Grand Maximus. If the rival for your Black Zarak is G1 Fortmax (or his repaints), your Blacky will be at the perfect height in bot mode, making the legs extenders irrelevant.

Is 86 Snarl worth picking up? I already have the first three 86 Dinobots. I guess I could complete the collection, but I'm not exactly enamoured by what I see [missing gold paint, fiddly dino head], and it sounds like that money/room could be better spent on Armada Optimus even though he doesn't fit my "G1-ish" collection thematically. /thinking...

If you miss out on Snarl, you'll be regretting it forever and be stuck with paying double on the secondary market soon enough. The dino head is not fiddly at all and he's pretty damn solid. As for the "missing details", it depends on taste I guess. For me, he's perfect all the way, but if he's not for you, you can always spend a bit more to buy his REPROLABELS. And maybe for the other Dinobots while you're at it.

As for Armada Optimus, it may be the best Commander so far after Sky Lynx IMO. But he should still be in stock for a while.

So I say get Snarl first while you still can, and get Armada Optimus (and Megatron for him to have his rival) the month after or the next. Depending on your budget.

Or be an idiot like me and YOLO everything at once on your credit card! 8-}

I'll not be listing 30 figures but I'll list my bests in no particular order, and not necessarily 10 of each.

SS86:
The leader Dinobots. All of them. These are mini masterpieces and a dream come true since Power of the Primes. Jazz is also pretty nice. And the Junkions. And Scourge. And more.

WFC Trilogy:
ALL Sideswipes and their repaints are my #1. SO GOOD. The Netflix spoiler pack Nemesis Prime have an edge over the ER Leader Optimus Prime. I'll also cheat with Siege Soundwave with his shoulder upgrade kits that allows him to transform into a Cybertronian cassette player. Plus his casettes. Also, most if not all Beast Wars characters. Omega Supreme. Sky Lynx. And so much more!

Legacy:
The stunticons, the Armada guys, Velocitron Scourge and G2 Toxitron, All of the Skids and his repaints, and more.

Seriously, we are really getting spoiled lately because when I just can't make a "top 10" list of anything because there's too much goodness to chose from, it just mean that :HASBRO: :TAKARATOMY: are KILLING IT.

Oh, let's make this challenging: pick just one from each of the following for a total of five?

SS86
WfC Siege
WfC Earthrise
WfC Kingdom
Legacy

Wondering if I've overlooked anything "essential".

Here's my thinking:

Grimlock
Omega Supreme
Scorponok [or Black Zarak, which is technically legacy/selects?]
Uncertain

Well, if I consider the play factor, the fact that I so often mess with them, and have fun doing so, then my top 10 across the board would be (SS86, WFC, Legacy all included):

#1) The Sideswipe mold. So good, that I'm hunting every single last one of them. Only 1 remain and I'll have to pay more than double retail to get it because I was to dumb to buy it when I had the chance.

Image

#2) Siege Omega Supreme and his Guardian Robot clones. The best titan ever so far.

Image

#3) Armada Optimus Prime. So perfect in every ways!

Image

#4) The Skids. Not only the MP is awesome, but the regular Legacy are damn awesome. WE NEED A REBOOST!

Image

#5) ER Optimus Prime, Nemesis Prime, and the Netfilx Siege Nemesis Prime. All lose points because they need so many upgrade kits to be truly "complete". But once it's done, we get the best classic Optimus so far.

Image

#6) Select Siege Galactic Man Shockwave with Reprolabels. Not only it is my favorite colors for Shockwave, but with the Repros, you can add 2 more modes: Animated Strongarm with his altmode!

Image

No pictures for the remaining.

#7) The Siege seekers. So fun to mess around with, and they have an edge over the ER seekers.

#8) The SS86 Dinobots. Big, and all are mini MPs!

#9) The ER Sunstreaker and his repaints. So well made!

#10) The ER Hoist, Trailbreaker, and their repaints. So good that I repro'd them all and gave them extra accessories!

Thanks a bunch! Looks like I actually have most of those or they're on order [Armada Prime]. Is there a specific skids mold figure you recommend? Looks like I'm missing him.
