Yes, hasbro is being misleading with that description, 100%.

I'm a parent too, but I'm not shocked at all since we just got this same type of stuff in Cyberverse and the Bumblebee movie line before it, and the RID line before that one, all at the same price, do you remember those?

No, my son is only just getting old enough for it to matter, so I hadn't paid attention to that bracket before. Still, most of those older toys look way better than this most recent offering. Maybe not super-poseable or intricate but they *look* good. Slick. Polished. Given kiddo's main love is Hot Wheels, that would be enough.

"Beast Mode Bumblebee" doesn't manage to look good in any mode, though. If he had a legit third mode it would be understandable, but the beast mode is such a joke that it's hard to see why they made so many sacrifices on other simple parts of the toy like those awful wheels.

Also, is it really too much to ask that we get a Bumblebee that turns into a bee?

Lots of cool stuff in those reveals.

As someone who ended up falling in love with Battle Call Cyberverse Optimus, and ended up really liking the minicon powerup Prime from RiD2015, I have strangely fallen for that weird Phoenix Bee. I will get that one, he looks like fun in a weird way that makes me giddy.

The battlemasters looks so cool, I will need to get several of each to arm up some beasts. I think my Kingdom rhinox might get 2 of the Gun-oceros' to help jazz him up. I also want that Prime with chainclaw.

The little legion guys also look fun.

there is a lot there to love and enjoy, and I plan to enjoy them

Yes. Yes it is.

Because of trademark reasons. If he were to turn into an actual bumblebee, then the name "Bumblebee" could be interpreted as a non-trademarkable descriptor rather than a trademarkable proper name.

Wow, a lot looks really sweet!
The new Core class movie dudes and the Battlemasters look very cool! And I'm 37.

I hope they drop a new trailer soon, can't wait to see more. I hope this movie does well and the toys.

Love the fact they are redoing the armor thing. That Arcee looks great!

It sucks, because now I have to save up money again.

Cheap and easy custom idea: Just find a Bumblebee bot head that fits on Kingdom Waspinator/Buzzsaw (both of which are plentiful and clearance priced, in my neck of the woods at least), then apply black Sharpie to any purple or green parts you don't like, and viola!

I do agree that kids are dumber, but having simpler toys has very little to do with it. It's the result, not the cause. The cause is the decline of the education system from bottom to top, in the US at least.

YES, but it doesn't have to continue! I'm sick of everytime I go somewhere to buy something all that's left is bad gimmick toys that're just upscaled McDonald's toys. It's corrupt. And it might NOT be the cause of kids being stupid but they're ENABLING it. I remember when figures used to be simple.
You had Leaders, Voyagers, and deluxe for the current show, then the movie that was out at the time. Every show had an Optimus that looked at least similar to what you saw on screen, now every show Optimus is oversized gimmicky ass. Where's the Voyager Class CyberVerse Optimus? There wasn't one! They were all either oversized gimmick toys or deluxes. Why is Optimus a deluxe? It's not a difficult concept to make consistent. I saw a Spider-Verse toy for the new Spider-Verse movie that was a static, unposeable figure that had a spinning Gatling gun if you pushed on the leg. That's McDonald's ****, and it was like 9 inches tall and costed like $15.
It's oversaturating the market with garbage that will end up in a thrift shop or Ollie's. And Transformers is no different. Things won't change unless Hasbro makes them change. And to all the users criticising me for caring, how is that helping? Telling me to touch grass like a basement monkey is gonna help toys not suck? If you don't care then don't reply.

Say what you want, but has it really never occurred to you that Hasbro continues to make these toys because they sell? The reason why these things keep ending up at places like Ross, TJMaxx and Ollie's yet Hasbro keeps making them movie after movie, cartoon after cartoon is because that's the stuff that's left over after they and the retailers have already turned a nice profit on them. If Walmart or Target said, hey, these don't sell, stop making them, they would. Since they're still making them that should tell you that they're making money off them. No amount of your complaining is going to change anything, Hasbro lets the money talk.

Every time a kid can't find a Hasbro toy they want on the shelf, and opts to spend their money on something else, Hasbro is missing a sell. When all is said and done, there should always be some little bit of the stock that ends up on clearance or at a discount store, especially for the kid-oriented lines.

Hasbro owns something like 50% of the action figure aisle and three of the biggest brands in it (Star Wars, Marvel and Transformers). Chances are whatever they're buying instead is still one of their toys so I don't think they're that concerned. But that's also why they hedge their bets on multiple figures of popular characters like Prime and Bumblebee.

Like I said, if they can't find a HASBRO toy then Hasbro has a problem. I'll add my general observation since picking up Star Wars toys again is that the selection of Star Wars toys is usually dodgy, and it generally seems like it thins out about the same time as Transformers. Vintage collection barely offers anything, Mission Fleet just doesn't refresh often. Black Series is the one that seems like it shelf-warms... I digress though.

More importantly, Hasbro pays licensing fees for Star Wars and Marvel, and still has to compete with Mattel and Lego who also sell products under those IPs.

I didn't say anything that contradicted that, when a kid can't find one Hasbro toy they want the chances are high they'll be looking at another one. Likewise If they can't find a figure they want that isn't made by Hasbro there's a good chance they'll end up with a Hasbro figure. It goes both ways and I see pretty much all figures stocked as well (or as poorly) as Hasbro's.

Oh man I'd take this new 10 inch Bee over that $50 Optimus any day, that alt mode was **** awful. Bee may not really have 3 good modes, but at least he has 2 ok modes. This Optimus was just sad.

Another Rise of the Beast Reveal with 3 Step Optimus Primal + Look at the Packaging of the Main Line

Postby william-james88 » Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:02 am

Hasbro is releasing more Rise of the Beasts toyline content to showcase upcoming product. Today we have new videos showing the transformation for the Smash and Change Optimus Primal and transforming Bumblebee mask.

This makes it the 4th Optimus primal toy and Bumblebee toy revealed in the mainline so far, though we know they will each get more toys.

These simpler toys, like Primal, sold well in the past as they offer larger toys with quick conversions for kids, we'll see if that trend continues with the introduction of Beast Wars characters for a new generation.

Also, thanks to Twitter user Azalben, we have an image showcasing the packaging for this toyline.

I hate these videos. Either make your content horizontal or vertical, Hasbro. Don't make it horizontal and then letterbox it into a vertical resolution. I fullscreen these videos on my 2k monitor and I get a small window of video. If I were on my phone and turned them sideways to get more video I'd get worse results. Pick a damn orientation. Every device can already fill in the blank space if a video doesn't fit the screen, so why are they trying to force the issue?

anyway the toys look nice I guess. I'll be eagerly waiting for reviews of these masks to see what people say about them.

Also not all of us have access to an Ollie's or a Ross. I have a couple T.J.Maxx stores I can go to, but they were a total bust when it came to Transformers last year.

This is a really good call-out, because I read an investor note with a "sell" recommendation, and they specifically said they were negative because fansite crybabies don't like the looks of Hasbro's kids' media tie-in products. You should have a CNBC show, I can recommend a production contact if you're interested.

Somehow, I doubt it. Most of that will likely be in a discount bin or an Ollie's at less than half it's original price.

And you know this how? :-? Most liquidators I've seen don't carry that much, really, and even then only later waves.

And if it's TFs that older fans actually want, you usually have to be at Ollie's the day they put it on the shelf. Don't be fooled by the army of Zack Storm figures who've staked out their pegs for half a decade now.

Also, much as I like Ollie's, they're largely just in the eastern third of the contiguous U.S., just barely creeping west into Texas. They've served me well in Michigan, but IDK if my relatives in Illinois have even heard of them.

I wish T.J.Maxx, Marshall's, and Tuesday Morning were still reliable for overstock TFs, but those days seem to be years gone by now. I saw some of those Dinobot dual-combiners in TJM just before Christmas, but the last time I actually bought TFs there was pre-pandemic (and also Cyberverse, but from Year 1).

Point is, don't let the hindsight bias of that one toy you forked over $30 for and then saw for $10 a few months later convince you to ignore an entire line at MSRP when it hits the shelves. All the figures you end up paying double for on Ebay will more than offset 1 or 2 flukes that show up en masse next year in an unexpected outlet.

This is a really good call-out, because I read an investor note with a "sell" recommendation, and they specifically said they were negative because fansite crybabies don't like the looks of Hasbro's kids' media tie-in products. You should have a CNBC show, I can recommend a production contact if you're interested.
Cry-babies? Hahahaha get a life... look, I've been a collector for about 40 years now, and have close to 4,500 Transformers... if you can say the same, or even close to, I might listen to your opinion about these, but I get the feeling you can't. If you think these ROTB toys are good, you might want to look into go-bots instead, because Transformers are more than you deserve.
