MOTU

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

It is a bit of a missed opportunity though. This crossover could have started a lot crazier than it did. It's still not integrated as much as a crossover should be.

Weird with Mattel saying the TMNT Motu wasnt store exclusives and is availavble to all retailers to make some exclusive :(

Just watched the Melindra episode :P the bird vehicles looked pretty good and same with the super sized spacecraft carrier that they used.
As for Melindra...good job New Adventures is classy otherwise the guardians might need to carry personal alert alarms... I did like how Skeletor wasnt bothered how many times she hit the mutants.

That was very much a PRODUCT PLACEMENT episode. Just about every vehicle the show had was on display. Most seemingly with no purpose other than props

Ignoring the creepy stalker, of course >:oP

So, I've decided to dip my toes into this stuff. I've ordered myself a Revelations He-Man, since he could be had for fairly cheap complete (40th or New Eternia would have been preferable, for also having the axe, but individual price won out on this initial splurge). And of course I'm wanting to get more. I'm eyeing Masterverse She-Ra, and the 2022 Stridor, among others.

Speaking of She-Ra, anyone know of articulated horses of the right size to use for a new Swift Wind, since Mattel apparently haven't seen fit to grace us with a Masterverse one or one in the 2020s MOTU line (at least, based on what I've seen)?

EDIT: You know, from what I've read Revelations sounds like an interesting show. But there is something disappointing for me regarding it after looking more into MOTU: That the Revelations subline of Masterverse didn't give us a new Skelcon. Also disappointing there wasn't a Masterverse Horde Trooper.

@zelda, horse wise it has to be the motu classics version but it's pricey. I can't remeber if the foot holder thingies (stirrups) are oversized like with bows horse.
Then for cheaper alternatives, likely some kind of doll line toys or failing that the mcfarlane dark knight build a horse wave can be found for around $50 and selling the figures. Witcher horse might not be that good either.

Just been charged for masterverse movie evil lyn, I've overpaid a bit imho, but for something I have to have it's what I was willing to pay :)

Speaking of Arrow, while looking at classic She-Ra toys I've come to the amusing realization that cartoon!Swift Wind has Arrow's wings. I'm guessing whoever did the animation model somehow wound up with the wrong parts.

And you weren't kidding about MOTUC Swift Wind being pricey, geez. But then, I was expecting that after seeing what MOTUC Skelcons cost (which is why it's a real shame we didn't get any in the Masterverse line).
I was already thinking along the lines of sourcing an articulated horse from some doll line or other (hence the wording in my initial post). I'm doing some poking on eBay, and also making inquiries about prospective source lines on MLP Arena since I know a lot of people there are knowledgeable about doll horses in general.

Box art, really good as always - even if I tore mine open.

Accessories... Kind of, they now come in a paper bag instead of in the plastic shell. She is very light on them too, just two alternative hands and the cthru key (which has no way of pegging on to her or latching on)

The figure, really nice, let down by the knees which do not have any paint and don't match the plastic for the legs. Not as noticeably bad as on some of the revelations figures. The cape seems maybe the wrong way around but it avoids any tag holes unlike cattra.

*the eyes are never going to be as good as the actresses but that's to be expected.

I really like the new boxes. They look a lot better on the shelf and in hand.

Oddly enough, found some older Masterverse stuff at Target this morning, probably stuff that was found in the back or returned. He-Ro, Fisto and Andra. If only they would find a box full of Origins King Hisses...

Man, Mattel has been really quiet on the Origins front. I know they've been busy with the Revolutions, Animation and TMNT lines, but Origins was supposed to be the online line and we haven't heard anything since. Maybe after Eternia.

We may not have heard anything but as far as releases go it seems like Origins is getting more attention than Masterverse? At least from what I've seen?

Speaking of boxes, while browsing I've noticed some amusing incompetence with the cross-sells on Masterverse packaging. Multiple figures are guilty of having a cross-sell for themselves on the back XD

Speaking of Origins, I'd love to get a couple of Stridor (one for custom purposes) since he's big enough to also work with Masterverse figures. I'm also wondering if Hasbro have noticed Mattel using a certain name.

In my trip down the MotU/PoP rabbithole, I've come to the conclusion that aside from the stylized mask... Catra's Filmation design kinda sucks compared to the toy/minicomic one. The outfit is a lot more "generic villainness" and the design artist missed or willfully ignored that she's supposed to have a tail (it was even directly attached to the body on her second toy). On a non-Catra note, it's sad that none of the Horde vehicles from the She-Ra cartoon existed in toy form.

I've also been having multiple custom ideas. One is turning a spare He-Man into a Simon Belmont action figure; it would work really well since they're both ripped off from Frank Frazetta's art of Conan. Another is turning a junker Land Shark into a Destructo-Tank (the version with a toothy monster face). And there's more besides that. I'll say that one of them involves a spare Masterverse Battle Cat, but it's not who you might immediately expect.

Origins has supposedly gone online/mattel creations only with the few characters they need to finish off (previously shown is rock dudes, extendor, nightstalker and maybe more plus stuff that has pretools like modulok).

the new/not origins stuff is the boxes labelled cartoon etc which are essentially origins figures but covering toon and hopefully more in that release. They also include origins repacks/fan faves in this 'not origins' line like zodak to give people chance to rebuy what was missed out on. Shera and merman were rereleased in origins packaging, where zodak has the 'not origins' cartoon sticker on his packaging.

Yeah, what people are calling "Vintage Origins" (I don't think that's an official name) is going to be Mattel Creations exclusive from here on out, but they haven't yet announced any of those exclusives and it's been since, what, August? October? The only things left that haven't been released at all in the original Origins line is the Walmart exclusive Lord Gr'asp, Terroar and Necro-conda and that Target exclusive Stranger Things 2-pack. No clue when any of those will actually be in stores and total radio silence on the MC exclusives. I need me an Origins Rio Blast!

Yeah, I'd seen the art but didn't realize he'd have his own package, just assumed he'd be more like an accessory.

Oh no, I'm not ready yet! I currently don't have a place to store the (I assume massive) box... I guess that's how I'm spending my day off Friday.

Oh and it looks like the universe was listening when I questioned the status of Origins at Mattel Creations. Rokkon is scheduled to be available two weeks from today on the 16th!

I'm not ready either, hopefully my son will have found his own accommodation by then. If not I will have to make the hard deduction of family or eternia...

Im going have to book flex down for rokkon, yesterday's retro wrestlers were easy enough to get but the motu stuff goes fast :/ hopefully Mattel will have more of the turtles motu by the 26th too because £9 shipping is a pain (I've got donny, heman and man at arms coming with the retro wwe).

Finally got around to watching Revolutions and I liked it. It cleaned up a couple things from the first series, definitely took things in unexpected directions and even included a live action movie reference Duncan talks about traveling the universe with Gwildor. Definitely going to be getting a lot of figures from this one including another He-Man and Teela not in the trailer, a new Andra and Duncan and another character that appears at the very end. Should be some really good stuff!

I'm still never going to watch that. Preternia is the past, not heaven. Simples. I'll pick up the CGI series at some point though, looks like it's about £20 on dvd for the complete series.

Something for me to look at eternia gets here, didn't go for the fancy edition as I wanted it to match the other book covers style and plus for the extra money the pirate skeletor/barbatlrian heman prints didn't seem worth it.

So I bought the DVD of the old 1987 He-Man movie and re-watched it after 35 years.

Image

It is a "bad" movie, but I enjoyed every seconds of it. It's ridiculous in a good way and most of the characters are true to themselves.

My only nitpick is that He-Man was Mostly PRINCE ADAM from 99% of the movie, being totally nerfed and ditching his sword for a gun.

Regardless, it was so refreshing to see a movie with PRACTICAL EFFECTS instead of CGTI garbage.

Now, I want to hunt down the toys. At least He-Man and Skeletor.
Come see my latest creation, a Galvatron Combiner using 4 SS86 Sweeps as limbs HERE!

Also, an update to my old ALL HELICOPER VICTORION!

@ Kanrabat you need to rewatch battle beyond the stars next or cyborg with jcvd.
Cyborg was going to be heman 2 and apparently battle of the stars was inspiration for new adventures heman.

I'd argue they are both worse than motu. Funny thing is I rewatched battle of the stars not knowing that whilst thinking the day before that a live action new adventure heman could be better than book of boba fett or most new star wars stuff o. O
