So my City Commander can't actually hold this upgrade set. Yeah.
Or, rather, he can, but it took a monstrous amount of effort to make him let go of it! Especially that gun. He has such a deathlike grip on it that it left two black streaks inside of the fist after I finally got it free.
The long pole is similar in it's problem. Learning from the gun, I only insertd a bit of it into his fist. I dunno how those pictures got him to hold it with two hands, it barely goes into one. The same is true for the smaller poles, but not as much as a detriment. Right now I have him holding both in one hand to mimick the look of the long pole.
I read warnings about the small, inner tabs on the hammer. Wouldn't you know it? One broke right off. Thankfully, they aren't actually nessasary to keep the hammer in one piece, but I won't be breaking it into two any time soon. If ever.
The Wreckers symbols on the hammer and sword are terribly drawn. The proportions are way off. At least they arn't too noticable.
Pluses? Well, the missile launchers fit in better than the Fansprojects add-ons. The sword, at least, is easily removable from his fist. The hammer itself is very nice visually, with a nice layered look. Even with that one damned tab broken it's still in one solid peice. Looks nice with CC.
But, overall?
New head - useless, makes him look like a pinhead. While nicely sculpted, they didn't allow enough room for it to move down on the neck.
Flag - Unless you want CC to preside over a TF race, this is useless. Dunno what it's supposed to reference. The plastic is flexible, but I worry that it'll break if I try to slide it over the pole. Of course ...
Long pole - Useless. It barely fits into CC's hand! None of the pols fit into the smaller Magnus' hands and I don't see why they chose to make the poles so damned thick.
Gun - Unless you never want to take it out again, this is also useless. I knew that it needed to be tilted in order to be held from another review, it still looked nice enough being held by CC. But, since it can't be removed without an absurd amount of force, it's totally useless to me.
Hammer - It's ability to split into two smaller hammers is useless and you risk breaking it when you try. HOWEVER, it does look very nice, Wrecker symbol aside. So, it's not useless. You just can't use the long pole with it.
2 small poles - Ironically usefull. I didn't think they would be, but they're short enough to be inserted into CC's deathgrip without risking breakage trying to remove them. CC han hold both at once to simulate the look of the long hammer. The saving grace of the set.
Missiles - Surprisingly useful. They fit into the shoulders FAR better than FP's own set. Not useful in vehicle mode, though.
Sword - Again, actually useful. If you feel CC needs to have a swordfight with Shadow Commander. CC can actually let go of the sword when you don't want him to hol dit.
I got this set on sale at BBTS for $40. At the time I felt it was worth that much. HOWEVER, since CC can't actually hold most of it and since the hammer broke on me within minutes of playing around with it, I feel ripped off. These upgrades can't do most of what the promo pictures show them doing. Since only the missiles, small poles, sword, and hammer are usefull, it's worth $20 to me now. $30 at most. Don't pay $60 for it. Or $50. Very disappointed because I like Animated and I wanted to like this set.
Edit: And now I notice the sword's bent. God damn it, iGear!
