I like the Predaking upgrades, especially the sword, but I think they missed the boat on the most obvious need that figure has: a thicker waist. I don't think the PotP figure is horrible, but it would be a hell of an improvement if his waist wasn't so damn small. It actually made me look into getting a Feral Rex, but he costs an arm and a leg, so I gotta forget it.

Well, when it comes to 3P's, there's multiple choices and aesthetics so it all depends on what you personally like. BUT. There is a sale going on at BBTS, and TFC Ares is only 200 bucks, if he tickles your fancy

So... anyone heard any word on the Volcampbell'scannedsoupicus upgrade kit (PC-23, I think)? Last I heard it was meant to ship out on the 4th, but I haven't seen anything from PE since that date, and not a peep around the internet either. I'd expect to get mine a little later since I bought it through an Australian source, but not seeing anyone in the US in possession of it yet is making me wonder.

Honestly, once a price has dropped, I don't recall ever seeing them go back up. When they price them to move, it's till they're gone I think.

Those hands and feet are awesome, as is the Abominus head. I don't care so much about the other bits but I may very well buy those sets now that PE have made their feet objectively worse by cutting out forward and backward motion, just for the hands and feet.

Not gonna lie though, the cape for Starscream is awesome.

No chest compartment for a Prime Master?
This is a pass. Not just because of the lack of the compartment but also because I like Abominus pretty much like he is. The only thing I would get for him is a rifle.

There is so much stuff added to Hungur... it's like, why not just make a brand new figure? And they're adding pieces that are unnecessary (for me anyways). I have no issue with his stock torso, but is anything, I would have added more bulk to his back, not his front. He's always sort of felt like a turtle without the back of his shell. And it would have been awesome if they supplied a replacement Cutthroat bird head.

The cod piece looks good though, the new head (depending on color) could be good, hands/feet on par with PE, and thigh thickeners are always welcome. After color is added, I'll probably be down for this.

Starscream... needs more. You make a set based on his Coronation, but don't have the shoulder pads? And you give him a bigass combiiner cannon, but not some signature null rays? Ugh... I'll probably get it for the cape, but the set is pretty lacking.

There is so much stuff added to Hungur... it's like, why not just make a brand new figure?

I asked myself the same question about the upgrade kit for CW Optimus Prime and it's kind of the same with the new Nova Prime upgrade kit for CW Battle Core Optimus Prime. But I guess to make a completely new figure would raise the price. So they make upgrade kits for cheap figures customers might already have.

If DNA ends uo being the only game in town, I'll go with them, their set IS pretty sweet. But I'ma wait to see if anyone else puts any offers on the table.

But why is the sword yellow
I'm not gonna get Predaking but if I'd want a silver sword Like the hands and feet.

I like both PE and TDW sets I currently have.

So maybe a better question is this. If I get the PE set now, is there another combiner it would match with, or am I better off waiting?

I would get PE's kit because I like Abominus' torso and head. But if you want something a bit more G1 accurate the wait for TDW. Also as far as I know we haven't seen color images of TDW's kit so maybe it's in G1 cartoon colors or they will release both color versions which is pretty likely.
So ask yourself what you want/prefer:
- I like his torso and head as is and only want better hands, feet and rifles.
- I also want a more cartoon accurate torso in toy colors.
- I also want a more cartoon accurate torso in cartoon colors.

Personally I'm waiting at least until TDW has color prototypes to show off.

So I received the PC-24 and TDW-06 Kits for Abominus and Volcanicus respectively. The problem that plagues all these 3rd party add-ons is in effect. The pegs are still ever so slightly too big and will crack the ports. My recommendation is to A) have a backup set of bots, B) shave the pegs a little, C) deal with it. Really what they should do is to design the peg to be a bit softer so it can "squish" if the port is a bit smaller than the peg.

Aside from that negative, the kits are fantastic. Volcanicus now looks super-imposing, and just maybe could go toe-to-toe with Predaking. Abominus is another good kit, and if you like the guns, you can gift one to another combiner. He really only needs one (my opinion). With the new style feet, you lose forward and backward tilting, but gain a lot of stability. I am ok with that.

All in all I recommend both of these sets. The caveat being you need to understand the high risk of breaking your figures.

It looks like a really nice king sword but to me it doesn't look like it suits Predaking well. It needs some more spikes and curves and stuff like that.
And why is the gem teal? That doesn't match Predaking at all.
