Better pics over at Tformers.com.

Wow, Arcee's looking pretty butch. They really should've remolded the head at least.

I have to say that Jazz looks pretty nice though. Still won't be buying it though, too much money to spend on a figure I already have.

Far from impressed. Not even die-cast and just like the Kiss Players line by default. Forget it!
BWOP: "Die-cast construction...It's a lost art!"

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

I dont get it, TomyTakara can repaint the Honda S200 into "Arcee" but they can't make a new head and finnally release Legion/Megatron. This Binaltech come back stinks. :-(

Anyway I love BTs, and I just can't get enough of them, gimme gimme gimme more!

BTW, the fishbowl packaging style was Hasbro's not Takara's.

The die-cast has been confirmed by several online retailers. Here are three:

http://translate.google.com/translate?sourceid=navclient&hl=en&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ee%2dhobby%2eco%2ejp%2fcgi%2dbin%2fomc%3fport%3d33301%26req%3dPRODUCT%26ett%3d20080331022123223719000000%26parentpage%3d2473870%26hier%3d20050915090721538698000000

http://www.tfsource.com/Reissues/BT-22/BT-22-Convoy.html

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10821&mode=retail

As someone else mentioned - the 2.5 lbs is the same weight as BT Black Convoy, which was die-cast. The KISS Players version weighs 1 lb.

Coloring
The repaints are kinda boring. Arcee looks sketchy with the blotchy patches of pink and the adulterated head sculpt. Bluestreak doesn't look like Bluestreak. He looks like a bastardized offspring of Smokescreen. I wish Prime was painted into a different character.

Packaging
It looks like they will be using the classic Binaltech packaging for Meister and Blue Streak, but the number for Blue Streak is BT-03.

Mold Degradation
Can people see what I was referring to in the other thread regarding Blue Streak's panels not lining up? I think the mold is worn out.

In terms of Bluestrek's mold, it is the Subaru mold that is a problem in my opinion. I can rarely get the two halves lined up correctly.

another example, which is mine

as for the Bluestreak's colors, it almost looks like the G1 Catalog image.

Jazz looks ok. Its a good thing I pre-ordered him. I could always use more Alts/BTs.

Wouldn't surprise met at all if the mold WAS worn out. They've used it more times than the RiD Car brothers. I think Hasbro should enact some kind of special plan to preserve molds for the future.

I'm definitely keeping my preorder for Bluestreak. He's the only one I want out of the four. I also drive a Subaru Impreza and would buy however many repaints of the mold they end up making. Although, I do think that Bluestreak would have looked better with a silver hood which would help differentiate him from Smokescreen. I've always preferred his original diaclone colors anyway.

Now, if they would only make a red Subaru, like my car, and call him Cliffjumper.

BTW, the fishbowl packaging style was Hasbro's not Takara's.

Right, Hasbro's newer Alternators are in fishbowl packaging indeed. However Takara introduced BT-17 Black Convoy as 2007 Wonderfest's convention exclusive (limited production of 800pcs, or 1,000pcs?), and this particular figure "borrowed" the fishbowl packaging style, most likely due to Convoy's bigger size & nature of exclusivity. My guess is that Takara will borrow this packaging style again since it's the same mold bearing the same size fitting problem.

Here's a nice image from TFSource:

Where is the cheapest place to pre-order them right now?

I see BBTS has it for $60? We have it for $55 after you use 10% discount code: KING

Does toyarena.com's prices match up to competitiors??? if not we will match it!

As of today 5/17/2008 9:45am PST:

Agesthreeandup.com has these new BTs for $51.01 (match and 10% off should be $45.91)

etoysjapan.com has these new BTs for $43.19 (match and 10% off should be $38.87)

Perhaps you will not allow KING 10% off while you price match others???

Can I do local pick-up to save on shipping as well? I think I am just about 3 miles away (Monterey Park <---> Alhambra).

Cheers!

I'd be satisfied just matching the etoysjapan.com price! I have a 40 dollar credit for BBTS, but if TA will match the 43.19 price I'll cancel my pre-order and save the credit to go toward City Commander.

What's with the white spots all over the front bumper of Prime? I thought it might just be weird light reflections in the photos, but it looks to be on both the bot and alt modes which are shown at different angles...is that really part of the paint job? If so, I'm not too pumped about the "bird crap" look...that would be a bit of a deal breaker for me.

Agree. We should support Seibertron's sponsors, that's why I am still keeping my pre-orders with BBTS for their:

Trustworthiness
Great customer service
Fast email responses
Pay only when pre-order is shipped
No penalty for canceling pre-orders
Superb selection
Reasonable shipping charges

Keep up the good work Joel!
