Looks like they're going with the old cartoon origin from the Super Mario Bros Super Show.

Bowser looks badass. I see Kamek, Koopas, Dry Bones, we'll undoubtedly see main stays like Goombas, Boo Buddies, Thwomps, and likely Big Bertha and Bullet Bill.

There is no way this can be worse than that satire film featuring John Liguizomo, Bob Hoskins, and Denis Hopper... right?

Donkey Kong is also supposed to be in the film but in what capacity is unknown.

At the very least it looks great. And the trailer is fun, though we all know how that can go.
